Chapter 9
When Ella came home from being at Richard's, Jane was at the kitchen sink, washing the dishes from lunch. As Jane glanced at her, Ella could feel the guilt eating at her. She should have been at home hours sooner, helping her with the many chores that needed to get done today.
As Jane saw the look on her face, she just smiled and said. "It's alright. I rather have you galloping about with Richard then here with me doing these dreadful tasks."
Ever since her mother died, Jane has been there for her, especially when Ella needed her the most. At least she can do was help her out around the house. After all, Ella's stepmother assigned these chores mostly to make her miserable, which is her stepmother hobby in live.
Ella just huffed. "Really Jane, it's no problem at all and besides, our work load as just double with the king, prince and their men."
With that being said, Jane nodded. "Yes, you might be right. I actually needed assistance today with breakfast and lunch. Julia was fortunate to help."
"See." Ella said. "You really do need me."
"Yes, but your suppose to be a duchess who marries a royal with money to spent on you." Jane half-heartily joked, but Ella really did know what she meant.
"Maybe in another life time I would have, but I have accepted my fate. I'm an omega now." Ella just shrugged. It didn't matter to her that she lived a simple, but hard life. It had made her stronger and maybe one day she will fall in love, marry then be rid of her stepmother cruelty once and for all.
"Not if you marry the prince." Jane mumbled, but Ella heard her loud and clear.
"I don't want to be force into marriage, but marry out of love, thank you." Ella said. Then she took the mop and bucket out of the kitchen closet and walked out on Jane without a backwards glance.
After filling up the bucket with soap and water, she went to the front door entrance way and got to work at making the floor spotless. She started humming a musical tone, one that her father used to sing to her. As she was scrumming the floor, she couldn't help, but remember when he was admired from his pack. Even the humans looked up to him, he never treated them like they were the lower species. He tried his hardest to help everyone in this town, which warmed her heart. She really did miss him, but she knew that if he was still alive, he would definitely been proud at what she become. Even of her rank that were dominated from traditional wolf shifters.
Once she was done at cleaning the floors, which took her about three awful hours, she climbed up the stairs two by two to retrieve each of the households and guests dirty laundry. She first went into her stepmother's and Rosa's rooms to find them filthy. She folded and made their beds. Put their dresses that were laying around back into their closets, then took a duster out of her apron packet and started dusting away the dirt. Once she was done, she finally took their dirty laundry and went into to Julia's room to find it spotless. Ella just smiled. Julia was always trying to make things easier for her.
The royal king and prince was next, which she purposely saved for last. For some reason she was scared on what she might find, like something that was too personal for her to handle. After all, the were men, but as she went into the king chambers she actually found his room pretty much clean. Nothing was amiss, even the bed was made. However, as she went into the prince's room, she found his bed unmade. As she went to make it, she found a notepad laying on top. As she glance down, she didn't believe her eyes. She didn't mean to look, but the picture was already exposed. What she saw was a wolf, but not any wolf. It looked just like hers and even though the picture was in black feather quill, she just knew the wolf would have been red. Curiously got the best of her and she turned the page. What she saw astounded her. It was a picture of her face. Her eyes widen. Why was the price drawing her.
