Chapter 7 "Love Divided"

                                                          Chapter 7

 Richard was coming into his ninth summer as he snuck into the kitchen while the servants were preparing the food for the pack meeting this afternoon. Today they were going to have it at his house, whose parents were the most important in this town, ranked right behind the alpha. As the kitchen was crowded with busy servants coming in and out with trays of food, it was his chance to snick a cookie or two before anyone noticed. It was just in his reach to as he walked up to the counter that had pretty pink and blue whip cream on fancy shaped cookies, but just as he was about to grab them a girl voice stopped him from behind.

“What are you doing?” She asked as Richard jumped in fright. He turned around to look at this girl with weird, puffy hair with wide eyes. Her hands were on her hips with narrowed eyes.

But as he looked at her from head to toe he just rolled his eyes. She was maybe about six, just a little girl. There was no reason to be intimated. "Nothing to concern you little head with." he said as he put one whole cookie in his mouth.

"I should let you know that I was instructed by Mrs. Bernard herself to make sure her son doesn't eat any of the cookies before the town pack arrives." She simply said as she went over to guard the tray of cookies from Richard's hands.

And who might I ask are you" He questioned, while trying not laugh. After all, like she could really guard anything from him. She was barely half his age.

"I should let you know that I'm the alpha's daughter, Ella Elizabeth Farina." She said with a stuck up nose, while Richard mouth went wide.

This was the alpha's daughter? She doesn't look like her father at all. Maybe she gets her looks from her decease mother.

So, this is your first pack meeting and my mom already put you to work, huh" He said with a grin.

The alpha was very protective of his dear daughter. He never allowed her to come to a meeting before. When they had meeting at the alpha's house, which was rarely ever, only because the Luna is mostly in charge of organizing this event and they haven't had a Luna for about seven years, the alpha's daughter was never present. Yet, he could understand. Some of the pack members could become very rowdy. However, he has heard many things about her. The alpha talks about her all the time.

"Hah, I really like your mom." She said. Then she became sad, putting her head to the floor. "At least you have a mother." Then he heard her sob.

At that very moment, Richard felt stupid. He actually made her cry. He never made anyone cry before, especially a girl for that matter. So, he did the only thing he could think of. He pulled her towards him and gave her a hug. "Maybe that is so, but at least you have a good father. I mean his the alpha for that matter. You should be so lucky."

Ella then looked up at him as they separated from that hug and smiled. "Well, if you want another cookie, you better hurry up fast before your mom comes. She told me she was coming in to see if everything was set up for lunch."

He just stared at her as she went to grab two more cookies from the counter. She handed one to him. Richard didn't know it then, but in the moment he made a lasting friend.
