The two teams were tied for the championship, Alex on second. All Hannah had to do was hit at least a far single to knock Alex in for the winning run, Alex was pretty fast. The pitcher stepped on the mound, receiving the curveball sign from the catcher, one of Hannah's worst enemies. The pitcher nodded, and began to pitch, then she threw one of the most perfect curveballs Alex had ever seen.
"CRACK!"
Hannah had a beautiful hit down right field, right over the outfielder's head! Alex ran rounding third, heading home, but the outfielder was fast and got to the ball! Alex was halfway to home when the outfielder launched the ball in to home. Alex went to slide but tripped and slid late, directly into the catcher who went to place the tag! They had a collision, Alex's helmet went flying off one direction and the ball the other.
"SAFE!" Screams the umpire
Alex felt a crack and a sharp pain that wasn't going away. Alex's coach ran to her and asked her what happened and if she was okay.
"I'm not sure what happened but my ankle really hurts," Alex couldn't help but cry because of the pain.
Alex's parents were next to run out on the field. They checked up on her as well.
The next thing she knew, Alex was in the back of an ambulance with ice and a tight wrap on her ankle. Shortly, they arrived to the hospital where she was put into a room where she would wait for the doctor after taking x-rays.
When the doctor came in, he had a strange look on his face.
"Well, according to the x-rays and the small almost little amount of weight you can put on your ankle, it looks like you have broken it with a slight fracture here," he pointed to the x-Ray he had put on a screen.
"Wait WHAT!" Alex screamed, "How long will I be out?"
"With the damage done you might miss the season depending on how you heal."
"No, no, no..... this can't be happening to me! Please tell me this is just a nightmare!"
"You are scheduled to get your cast on Friday, so in three days. We have already wrapped your ankle and we will send you out with crutches. Also, since you took quite a hard hit, we are going to keep you overnight to make sure you are all set to go home tomorrow."
