So, you can probably guess by now where I was headed. The gala.

Yes yes, it may have been a stupid idea. A stupid, crazy idea, that might end up getting me killed. But ya know what? It's MY stupid crazy idea, and I'm proud of it, so step off.

Where was I? Oh, right, the gala. It was absolutely beautiful. Jim hadn't taken me to a fancy event like this since he'd taken me to once of his bosses' house parties, where I broke a few wine glasses and created a fuss. So, needless to say, I wasn't exactly accustomed to this higher-class way of life. In other words, I wasn't very elegant.

I slowly and cautiously entered in through the red velvet curtains that led to the ball room, scanning the area first to make sure my dad hadn't already arrived. He hadn't, thank god, but what I did realize was that Lee was there, and she was looking right at me.

Oh, shit... I thought. Does she know I'm not supposed to be here? Did my dad tell her how he was leaving me home tonight? Damn I'm so screwed..

And then, she did the weirdest thing. She smiled at me. And not one of those fake smiles that people sometimes use so they don't look angry or frustrated in front of a big group of people, no, it was an actual, genuine smile. Lee started heading my way, and I decided to do what was best. I couldn't look scared or squeamish, or she'd know something was up. So I put on my best smile and waved.

"Hi Reyna!!" She leaned in and embraced me in a tight little hug, which I returned. I'd always loved Lee- she was always so sweet, at I already saw her as a motherly figure for me. "I didn't expect to see you here tonight!"

Yeah, I didn't expect to even be here tonight. I thought, but I didn't dare say it. I'm not that stupid. "Yeah! Last minute decision." I chuckled lightly, and shifted my weight, tucking my hair behind my ear nervously. Lee nodded and smiled.

"Well, feel free to roam around and, if you need anything from me, I'll be roaming. Don't be afraid to ask me for anything!" She rubbed my shoulder and gave me a quick, warm smile, before walking off. I watched her go- Lee was among the very few people I actually hated lying to, next to my dad and Lauren. I shivered a little, shaking it off.

I walked around for a little while, making sure I didn't make too much of a scene, since I wanted to be unnoticed. if my dad found out I was here, I'd be grounded until I died.

I didn't see the ginger hair or the sparkling blue eyes yet, though, so I guess that was a good thing. But, who I did see, though, was a very familiar young boy, standing next to his butler.

Making my way through the crowd with a handful of "excuse me"s and "Pardon me"s, I made it through to the boy I hadn't seen in so long.

"Bruce!!" I exclaimed, and when Bruce Wayne turned around, I gave him a hug, which he warmly returned.

"Reyna! It's good to see you. How are you?" He pulled back and smiled, as I did the same. I'd met Bruce when my dad had decided to help out with the case involving the murder of his parents, where I had tried to do a little sleuthing of my own.
