Chapter 6: Friendly Spider

The skeleton's one skilled warrior. It dodged Lucio's halberd when he threw it. It shot its arrows with perfect aim, because it hit a pig when I dodged a arrow. That helped; we got food now. Just kidding.

Now, while we're fighting, I suddenly wondered if the skeleton is Herbrine's comrade. I slashed at it.

"Are you Herobrine's ally?" I asked. The skeleton didn't answer. I concluded that it wasn't Herobrine's.

"Listen," Ameli said, "you may be not what you look like." I was confused. To whom is she talking to?

I learned that Ameli is talking to the skeleton. It changed into . . . a spider.

"Salutations," it said. "My name is Xylis. Thanks to you, I've changed back to my original form."

"How?" Aaron asked.

I swear, I saw Xylis's eyes fill with tears. "Well, I shall tell you the truth. Before we became hostile, we were peaceful creatures, spinning webs and eating insects trapped in them. That's our lifestyle. But everything changed when Herobrine and the Ender Dragon took control. They made us so aggressive. Too aggressive. I was the only one left. I didn't want to be hostile. As punishment, Herobrine changed me into a skeleton. The curse is . . . I could only live permanently as a normal spider if there is someone who could see my true form without anyone knowing."

"Thank Ameli," I said, "she could see your true form as a peaceful spider."

"Yes." Xylis turned to Ameli. "You are Ameli of Carnia, are you not?" she asked.

"I am," Ameli replied.

"What happened to the other spiders when we defeated the Ender Dragon?" Aaron asked.

Xylis's eyes became wide. "You defeated the Ender Dragon?" she said, flabbergasted.

"Aaron, show your sword. You too, Alj," Ada said. We did show our swords.

Seeing our swords, Xylis exclaimed, "I never thought I'd see the chosens warriors for real! And yes, wielder of the Incubus, I shall answer. The others of my kind were affected because of the dragon's defeat. Their aggressiveness was lessened, but it was still booming. They shall be calmed if you defeat Herobrine."

As she said this, several spiders were glaring at us. I tapped on Xylis. "Umm . . . are these your friends . . . ?" I asked.

Xylis turned to the hostile spiders. "Oh, no, they are!" she said.

"Should we fight?" Lucio asked.

Xylis wasn't sure. But she turned to us. "Please decide, my heroes," she said, "to fight or to convince them?"

We chose to convince them. Xylis appreciated it. She said she wouldn't like killing her friends with her own fangs.

Aaron turned to the other spiders. "Excuse me, but Xylis here wants to talk!" he said. Xylis turned to them as well.

She explained everything. About our arrival, about her curse, about Aaron's destiny and mine, about how Ameli changed her to normal, and about how to stop the spiders's aggressiveness.

Hearing this, the spiders calmed down. One of the spiders approached Xylis. "My friend, worry not. We shall join you until the end of time."
