--------^^^AUTHOR'S NOTE^^^^^----------- NOW THE STORY :)

“Richard… I´m scared.” A woman with blonde wavy hair whispered into the darkness a bundled up blanket was gathered safely into her arms.

“It´s going to be ok. I will not allow for her to be succumbed into this world.” A man with dirty blonde straight hair combed back to perfection whispered back breathing heavily as he continuously checked around him like a paranoid person.

“Are you sure this is for the best? I want to be there for her Richard! I won´t be able to be there for her!” The woman tries desperately not to sob or cause too much noise.

“Elaine! Do you truly want her to be living this life? I know what it´s like and I don’t want her to have to go through this.” The man says confidently, but on the inside he is hurting very deeply.

“Then don’t run! It is your choice Richard! Not your father´s, not anyone´s but yours!” She whisper/yells angrily.

“It is expected of me. We have been through this Elaine. Ever since my father got elected, he has been training me to follow his footsteps and according to my father, I´m a sure win. Everyone is counting on me.” The man tries to convince the woman before him with everything he´s got.

“But Richard… She´s-” The woman has tears streaming down her face, but that isn’t what interrupts her.

A static sound is heard a fair distance away before someone speaks. “We´re on our way to the kitchen.” A deep male voice says through a walkie-talkie.

The woman, Elaine, and the man, Richard, share a panicked look. Elaine holds the blanket more securely in her arms from fear. Richard wraps a secure arm around her before hurriedly guiding her through the kitchen towards the back exit.

“They are getting away!” Someone yells from behind the man and woman.

Heavy footsteps run after them causing them to pick up their pace. Their hearts raced as they run out of the house. Once they manage to get out of the house they run with everything they’ve got.

Their breathing is uneven. The strong wind rushes past their faces as they make their escape through the ghostly night. Everything around them is quiet and dark. Their heavy breathing is the only sound that they are able to hear as it echoes through the empty streets. Their hearts race so hard they fear the other can hear it.

After running for what they both felt like was forever, they finally reach an old two-story house with a huge tree on the side of the house, an old rickety wooden gate, cream painted exterior that has its paint chipping off, and the door looked pretty beaten.

Richard pushed open the small gate making a cringing sound escape its hinges. He ushered Elaine forward and they both scampered quickly to the front door. He knocked on the door hard and repeatedly.

A short old woman with grey curly hair opened the door wearing a robe firmly around her small round form. Her grey eyes matched those of Elaine. When her sleep filled eyes took in the couple before her, her wrinkled grey eyes widen in recognition.
