"I got somethin' to show ya."
It's a soft exhalation against the shell of his ear as Joe whispers the sentence to him. He seems desperate for the other to move from his position on the couch, to come and join him. For a moment, Sal debates with himself; does he really want to move that desperately? Still, when he catches the pleading look in boyfriend's eyes he gives in, a smooth chuckle passing his lips as he nods slowly in defeat and rises from the cushions.
The climb up the stairs takes but a moment and Joe is excitedly pushing the door to their bedroom open before presenting him with a lamp. For a moment, Vulcano is confused. Is this a joke? Green eyes flit from the object to his boyfriend and back again, brow slowly arching.
"...nice?" he comments slowly, shoulders raising on their own accord in the form of an indifferent shrug. Seriously, is this what he'd gotten up for? Joe Gatto is the love of his life but that doesn't mean his practical jokes don't sometimes bite him on the ass. However, the theatrical roll of his eyes signifies to Sal that there's something more. "Huh?"
"Plug it in, dummy."
Sal levels him with a dull stare... before complying blindly. As he sets the lamp on the bedside table and flicks it on to check it's working, he then glances back at the other man. When he turns, he sees Gatto slipping their curtains closed, a certain giddiness in his step that Vulcano doesn't understand. How can he be this excited, this elated, over a goddamn lamp? It didn't even have a lampshade on it, it was cheap as hell!
"Joey, I'm– I'm missing the point," Sal murmurs quietly as he flicks it back off. Joe's by his side in an instant, nothing about his movements showing signs of discouragement at his lack of understanding. Sal takes in the dimness of the room, wonders briefly if this is some elaborate ploy to seduce him and the mood just hasn't set in yet. Either way, as Joe gestures for him to cover his eyes with his hands, he obliges and doesn't question it when he sees light filter through the darkness his hands provide, cracks in his fingers, not to peek but to be lax, letting some of the brightness in. However, he remains diligently blind, smiles weakly as he feels Joe's hands settle on his shoulders and push him lightly over to the bed.
"Keep your eyes closed, Sally," he instructs as he guides his boyfriend to lie back against the bed they now share. He's powerless to stop a light sigh escaping his lips as he lies on his back; his hands are slowly replaced with Joe's own shimmying beneath his while he guides Sal's to his sides. "Ya ready?"
Despite his cluelessness, Sal chuckles lightly and nods his head, "As I'll ever be, baby."
There're few things to describe what he sees when he opens them - even less to describe how they make him feel. There, in luminous green paint, are words scrawled along the entire expanse of the ceiling - and he would have lost his mind had he not seen a large sheet covering the actual paintwork of it. Instead, his heart begins to thump as he slowly turns his head to look at his boyfriend, who is all but squirming with delight.
"Wh–What's this, Joey...?" questions Sal, eyes searching for answers. His lover merely shrugs and the beginnings of a smile start to curve his lips attractively.
"When I went grocery shoppin' for us earlier I saw the arts and crafts section and couldn't resist. Y'know, all the school kits and stuff? So sweet. Anyhow, I came across this glow-in-the-dark paint stuff and I thought it'd make for a cool little... reminder."
"Wh–When did you...?"
"While ya were nappin' on the couch."
