After I paid, we headed out from the restaurant and were on the way to the car when I noticed a figure lurking in the alleyway, which was looking at mine and Craig’s direction. I panicked (even though I had no reason to) and looked up at Craig.
To my astonishment he was staring straight back at the figure, and his eyes were.. glowing? I wasn’t entirely sure, but they definitely were fiery. His cloudy eyes seemed harsh for a moment. A minute ticked by before his eyes returned to normal again (if it were possible). If my eyes could do that it would be awesome! I guess..
Something suddenly yanked me forward by me elbow. “Hey!” I shouted ay Craig, wincing at the pain he was causing. He didn’t reply, but was pulling me down the street quickly, as if it were a race or something. I tried wiggling my elbow out of his grasp, failing. He only seemed to grip it tighter. I was already panting, yet he continued down the street.
He suddenly came to a splintering halt when we were in a deserted area, making me jerk forward. If it weren’t for his tight grip on my elbow I would’ve fallen flat on my face.
I groaned, dropping my shopping bags on the ground, trying to catch my breath. I bent down, placing my palms on my thighs, waiting for something to happen.
And it did.
Craig grabbed my shoulders, holding me upright. I groaned again, and he looked at me solemnly in the eyes. I had no choice but to stare back, feeling lost in the colors of his eyes, that were mesmerizing me. Oh God.
“Look, Mel, Im sorry for dragging you here, but we were gonna be in danger had we stayed back there. Well, you were gonna be in danger,” he stated.
“W-what d-do you m-mean?” I mumbled numbly. He sighed, letting go of my shoulders. “I cant tell you now.. but I’ll tell you when the time is right,” he promised.
I stared at the ground, not knowing how to react. His white arms stretched out to me and wrapped them arount first sight.
Before I knew it, my eyes were brimming with tears, uncontrollably falling down my cheeks. I sobbed quietly, my tears soaking part of his shirt.
“Ssh.. Its okay. Don’t cry. Im here for you..” he murmured gently, resting his chin on my hair. I moved my hands up to his neck, interlocking my fingers behind it. Craig suddenly stiffened, lifting his head up from my hair at the same time that I looked up to meet his eyes.
“We should go,” he muttered, letting go of me before pulling my hands off his neck.
**************
I woke up in bed the next morning and noticed an arm snaked around my side and onto my stomach, chilling me, feeling every rise and fall as I breathed. I lied down contentedly, not wanting to move.
“I know youre awake,” Craig murmured into my jet black hair. Damn. How the hell did he know? He suddenly squeezed his arm around my stomach, puld my waist, pulling me closer. I rested my head on his shoulder, feeling the coolness of his skin, feeling afraid by what he meant. Afraid that something would happen to us.. Or me. Afraid that we could be in danger. Afraid that I had no idea what was happening. But safe.. Very safe in his arms cradled around me. It was like love aling me back to him till there was nothing left between our bodies, except our clothes, of course.
“Good morning.” I breathed. Ilooked at the alarm clock on the bedside table.
2.31P.M.
“How did time pass so quickly?” I wondered aloud. He chuckled, lightly brushing his lips against my hair. me y’know..” he trailed off. “Fuck. Did they see us? Like this..?” I moved my hand on top of his which was on my stomach, stroking it.
“Well no. Theyre still sleeping.. Probably dead tired from work, they worked overtime last night,” he said. For some reason I said, “Good.” “Why?” he asked, clearly surprised.
I wiggled in his arm, turning around to face him. “Because I enjoy your company,” I simply stated, looking him in the eyes, which were mesmerizing me yet again. He stoned for a moment, ”You don’t know me.” His tone, as well as his eyes, turned harsh.
I placed my right palm on his cheek, feeling the coolness of his skin under my touch. “But I feel like I do,” I mumbled, buryiI guess it was a habit of his, of not replying but chuckling and then brushing his lips against my hair. I could get used to that. Very easily. “Your parents are hong my face in his chest. “Sorry,” Craig softened his tone. I looked up, moving my fingers to his forehead, shivering slightly, slowly tracing down his nose and on to his lips. My fingers lingered there, caressing his bloodred lips, longing to feel them against my soft pink ones. His lips parted slightly, and I realised he was speaking.
“Y’know, its funny how we’re comfortable being so close like this when we just met yesterday,” he spoke, rubbing my back soothingly. I laughed, pulling back my hand and putting it around his cool waist, snuggling into his chest. He smiled contentedly, a smirk on his lips.
“Maybe because we’re meant to be,” I said hopefully, my voice muffled by his chest. “Maybe, maybe not..” he trailed off. How long we stayed there in that manner I wasn’t sure, but I was certain I needed him in my life.
