"The hospital can keep him alive, but it's up to us to decide whether to keep him on life support in hope that he'll wake up, or turn it off and... well..."

~Six months later~

"How are you doing?"

"I feel like I'm bleeding, and no matter what I do to stitch myself up the blood just won't stop."

"Maybe it's time to let go..."

"No."

Tick, tock.

Tick, tock.

Every time you touched his hand you hoped it would be warmer, or maybe that he would squeeze yours.

All you'd wanted for the past six months was a sign, a sign that keeping Dick alive was the right thing to do.

Perhaps you were being cruel, perhaps everyone was right and you were just riding on false hope, perhaps it really was time to let him die.

Jason had tried to make you move on by sending you on multiple dates with people you knew, but none of them helped.

All they did was strengthen your love for the only person you'd ever had eyes for.

The person who lay in a hospital bed.

Tick, tock.

Tick, tock.

"Y/N?" Dick's Doctor questioned, popping his head round the door.

"Hi Doctor Roberts." You sighed, rising from your seat to shake his hand, "I don't suppose there's any good news." You stated, seeing as there never was any.

"Unfortunately not." The Doctor replied, gravely, "His condition is still deteriorating, and all I can do is offer you the same choice I did six months ago."

"The answer is still no Doctor." You shook your head, upright refusing.

"Just think about it Y/N, seriously think."

Tick, tock.

Tick, tock.

"How is he?" Stephanie asked you as you entered Wayne Manor.

"Deteriorating." Was your stock answer.

There wasn't really anything you wanted to say about it, all anyone would do is argue with you about turning off the life support.

"Y/N wait..." She stopped you on your way down to the Bat-Cave, "It's been six months now, think over our options."

The agreement between the family was that the machines keeping Grayson alive wouldn't be cut unless everyone agreed to it.

Initially nobody had voted to turn them off, but as time progressed everyone began giving up.

Now you were the only one left fighting for Dick's life.

At Steph's comment, you just heavily sighed and continued your descent down to the cave; maybe a night out would clear your head.

When you entered Bruce was sat in front of the Bat-Computer, suited up but without his cowl.

"Yes, I understand." He spoke down the phone, "Thank you, I'll talk to her."

"What's going on?" You asked, wearily as you approached Bruce.

"It's time we had a serious talk Y/N."

Tick, tock.

Tick, tock.
