Sorry I haven’t uploaded in ages. If you forgot what happened, I suggest you reread the previous chapter :) This is the final chapter of the story. There will be an epilogue. I don’t know about a sequel, though.
Recap: D has finally revealed to Arina everything about his past, but Mustafa phoned them saying he had Haden so they've rushed back to the brothel to save him.
D and Arina pushed through the tall, red gates which surrounded the brothel. They didn’t waste any time getting from the graveyard to the building. Haden was in danger, and they had no time to lose. Mustafa was unpredictable, savage, and inhumane. Allowing Mustafa to be near Haden- the person whose throat he had just strangled days ago- could only lead to negative consequences.
Especially after the story that D had just told Arina about how he ended up working for Mustafa. It only made her more fearful of Mustafa.
Reaching up to the building, D charged through the lifeless double doors. Staring back at him and Arina was Mustafa callously smiling with Haden sitting fearful in a chair. Kos was standing in the back with her head down.
“Haden!” Arina called out, rushing over to him, but before she could reach him, Mustafa stopped her in her tracks. He bounced right in front of her, looming over her tiny body. His eyes darted around her body, carefully considering his options. Then a cold smile emerged on his face.
“You thought you could disobey me and get away with it? Who do you think you are?!”
“Just let him go, I’ll do anything you want!” Arina answered, not caring for her own well-being but instead caring for Haden’s.
“This is stupid, you don’t need to get other people involved,” D spoke, his voice strangely authoritative.
“Don’t speak to me like that,” said Mustafa.
Haden finally managed to speak in the midst of his fear.
“It was my fault, I came to find you, Arina. I’m sorry for causing this. You would have probably gotten away if it wasn’t for me.” He looked genuinely upset.
Arina was shocked that Haden was sorry. In fact, she was mortified. After everything she had caused to happen to him getting involved with her, she felt like she was the one who had to apologise. She had even contemplated whether Haden would even want to know her after Mustafa had strangled him the day before.
“What are you talking about? Are you crazy, Haden? You don’t need to be sorry for anything! This is all my fault, I’ve caused all of this on you. I am so sorry. Please don’t be mad with me,” Arina spoke desperately.
“I wouldn’t ever be mad with you, this isn’t your fault either.”
Mustafa then interrupted. “Enough of this rubbish, I’ve had enough of you both!”
“Maybe you shouldn’t be so hard on them?” Kos said.
“Shut up, woman! What do you know about anything? You’re just as stupid as them!”
“Don’t talk to her like that,” D chipped in.
“Excuse me, who the hell are you to tell me how and how not to talk to my wife? I shall speak to her however I please and there’s not a damn thing any of you can do about that.”
