Louis thrust the key in the lock, turning it open, exhausted. He just went through another stunt planned by the management. The room was dark with the blinds down. There was light leaked from the kitchen and he heard a hum of the blender. He took off his shoes and tiptoed to the kitchen. The hum got louder as he walked closer and it was mixed with a soft voice crooning. It put a smile on his face when he peaked inside. Harry was in an apron, cracking an egg in a huge bowl and there was this goofy grin on his face.
It made butterflies flap their wings in Louis’ stomach just by seeing his face. He peered at him like this with a grin on his own face which made his back sore.
Harry turned around to fumble with other ingredients. The older boy tiptoed to stand behind him but he couldn't contain a chuckle at the surprise he was going to give. He stopped and covered his mouth, cursing in his mind. But Harry didn't seem to notice as he was too focused on the recipe. Louis inhaled slowly then resumed walking, much more cautious this time.
When he was standing behind the curly haired boy, a goofy grin appeared on his face again. Throwing his arms around the taller boy's waist, Louis shouted, “Surprise!”
Harry shuddered and knocked over a box containing flour. He spun to look at the attacker and his expression was priceless. His eyes wide in shock, mouth slightly open. Louis broke into a laugh when he saw the off guard Harry. He joined the laughing as soon as he recovered. They just stood there with white powder all over the floor and laughed at each other’s laughing.
The house was dark but it was lit up by the happiness in secret.
