My first ever lesson was Geography; I walked into the room which was green with old tables which had been written all over. The teacher was called Miss. Anderson-Menzies and she was quite fat and looked like the type of women which you would think she was a lesbian; her hair was very short and dyed bright blonde which fit the stereotype even more!

We were all told to stand at the back of the classroom which had a whole wall full of windows on it which therefore make it too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter; what a stupid design! Anyway as I was saying, Thomas Davies you’re next to Cathy Khan. Cathy was a Muslim quite short for her age but most Asians were that kind of built anyway.

At first when I had sat next to her she was quite hostile towards me; however after a few minutes had passed she started talking to me.

“Hey” she said with a smile

“Hello” I replied back quietly

We got talking and after a while we started having a laugh; however we talked so much and loudly the teacher gave both of us dentations for failing to do any work in the lesson. Already Cathy and I had put a bad first impression on Anderson-Menzies but at least I had already made a friend.

I had discovered Cathy was born in Brighton like myself and had a serve strict Muslim background which she by the tone she said it wasn’t proud of it but I said to her am open minded and don’t hate any race or religion accept Jews I had winked to her.

The bell rang; and I got up while still talking to Cathy about what she loved to what she detested.

“I hate that Muslims are labelled as terrorists!” she said in anger

“I feel your pain, but people are like that” I replied jokily

“Ha-ha very funny, you white people have it so easy!” From the tone she used I couldn’t tell if she was having a laugh with me or being serious therefore I had quickly changed the conversation as we walked out the green tatty geography room.

“So, what have you got next?” I said, after the few minutes of awkward silence.

“Maths, you?”

“I have got science with Mr. Jackson”

“Ok, have fun” she winked

When we broke apart and went our separate ways I was wondering how the hell I was going to get to science since this school seemed massive. Suddenly I heard my voice been shouted; at first I didn’t recognise the high pitched voice.

“Tom! Wait up mate!” the ultra high pitched voice said

I turned around and was greeted by one of my old school friend who went to this school as well- Daniel Kelly- He had been the nerdy one I was on about earlier. I stopped walking and waited for his short stubby feet to reach me, I could see big sweat patches underneath his armpits which nearly made me retch but I had somehow managed  to how it back.

“Oh, Hi Daniel” I said awkwardly because all the popular students in our year had been staring at me and probably think I was like him. A teacher’s pet.

“I have you got science with Mr. Jackson”

“Same!” he shouted

By now my face was proper red with embarrassment because it was so obvious that the popular students were talking about me and Daniel.

In science we were put in alphabetical order; thank god Daniel’s was Zukerman! Thomas your here, he pointed towards the Chinese kid two rows from the front. As I sat down I smiled at him but I could already tell he was quite shy and quickly put his head down and ignored the smile.

Mr. Jackson was on about what we were going to learn, the classroom rules which were really boring and Guan Ho who had just come from China knew little English as I discovered when I tried talking to him.

When the lesson finished I went outside to break where I saw Vicky had already made some boyfriends therefore I decided to have a quiet break and sit on the bench and listen to my iPod.

I then had Maths and then followed by Technology which I met loads of new people who were really friendly towards me. At the end of the day I walked home and was going to be made to tell my mum how my first day was.
