The principal was a lively lady by the name of Anna Vincent. She insisted that everyone call her Anna and was probably way more happy than she should have been for students getting called into her office. I was still nervous as I hated having to do anything that had to do with offices mainly because I hated the feeling of having someone boss you around. I silently took a seat while Blake loudly stated, "Well why are we here Anna?"

She smiled at the use of her first name, "Well Blake I'm glad you asked. You two have been accepted at Lee Martin boarding school. Honestly this is such an honor, because each year we apply all our students who's parents gave the okay and no one ever gets accepted. But this year y'all have! I hope y'all go because honestly this is to good a chance to pass up!"

She babbled on for a while but I had stopped listening. My brain was stuck on the part when she said boarding school. Boarding school. As in away from this town? And this school? And this life? Yes! I was so tempted to throw my hands up and scream like a little girl who's finally getting her way! I wandered what it was like there. Maybe it's nice and big, or perhaps small and quaint? My thoughts babbled along with Anna's speaking.

"So what do you guys say?" She finished as I snapped out of my daydream.

"Yes." I managed to answer calmly. Blake nodded along at a high paced speed.

"Well golly gosh! Y'all both accept? This is grate! I'll contact the school right away!" The way she said the words made me feel uncomfortable. Despite her friendly personality, her bright pink lipstick and bright pink jumpsuit set something wrong.

"I hope y'all have a nice time." The last word was emphasized in such a menacing way that I gulped down the lump in my throat, "That is to say if y'all make it!"

Her voice was chipper and happy but but the words held a very dark undertone and for once in my very pathetic school career I felt truly afraid of a teacher type person. Her eyes started glowing a terrible purple contrast to the blue iris, her hands glowed in a poisons purple light and I suddenly realized what was happening.

"April get down!!" Blake pushed me out of the way the second Anna's purple glow thing blasted out to the chair I was sitting in.

Closing my eyes I focused on a bright light that was seeping out of the window, breathing in I gently pushed Blake off of me. Getting ready to strike her with a chair when.. Blake charged at her with his bare hands ready to punch her. Before I could yell at him for being an idiot, something miraculous happened. As Blake's fist made contact with her skin she shirked back in pain. Not just any pain. She sounded like she had been shot.

Not hesitating to expose her weakness, Blake struck again. Watching silently I brought a chair and broke it with strength I didn't know I possessed and struck her in the stomach with the chair leg. She hissed, a pain filled sound that sounded way to much like a cat to be normal. Doubling over in pain she looked up through her now messy bangs at us and spat her last words before sinking into the purple mist and disappearing, " The rest of the gods will be pleased to note that you two are already powerful."

My eyes were widened significantly when Blake finally spoke up, "We need to get out of here. Now! There might be others like her here."

Suddenly snapping out of my trance-like state, I replied, "Break the window. Doesn't matter how you get it done."

My voice was a little sharper than it had needed to be and For once I didn't care. Blake nodded and silently brought his fist back and struck. The window shattered on contact and I didn't even blink. Grabbing Blake's hand, we walked out the window which thankfully was on the first story. I proceed to drag Blake to my house.

"What are we going to do break in there?" His voice Questioned in a rude demanding tone and I wanted to slap him right then and there.

"No Nitwit. This is my house." I put as much as the rage I felt toward him in those words

"Oh- wait your rich?!" His voice came in a very shocked sound and I regretted bringing him here.

"Yes? I guess," I let my voice trail off before regaining control of the situation, "listen we need to find this boarding school place."

"Who says we need to?" He asked skeptically.

Sighing I ran a hand through my hair, "She wouldn't have said 'if y'all make it' if she wanted us there. Or maybe she would of, but I'm gonna go on a limb here and say that's a no."

"Okay. How do we even know where this place is?" He sounded ready to put up a fight.

"Simple. We google it." Grabbing a laptop from my desk I quickly opened it up. The second it loaded I proceeded to open up google chrome, searching up Lee Martin boarding school.

"Lakeswen, Colorado? It looks like the towns in the middle of no where!" He was still putting up an argument.

"It's worth a try at least! Just give it a chance? Please?" I pleaded with him.

"..Fine. We're going to need materials for the road seeing as neither of us can drive it's going to be a long walk. "

"Good observation, crap noodle. But there is something called motels and taxi's. And if you give them enough money they don't ask nothing. " I said in a matter of fact way.

"Well where are we gonna get the money?" He sounded sure that he one the argument. But I smirked as a reached into a box by my bed and brought out a credit card.

"You wanna know the best thing about having a lawyer for a mom and a brain surgeon for a dad? You get your own credit card." I am ashamed to say, that I said that with all the arrogance I wish I didn't have.

Sighing he finally gave in, "Fine. Go pack your bag. When your done were heading to my house to get mine."

Nodding I grabbed a back pack and went to work.

Stepping lightly out the door I followed Blake to his house. I pondered what it would look like. He was probably rich and probably lived in just as big a house as me. Maybe he lived in a really large house. I gave up that thought as we passed the town into the less rich suburbs of Allen, our sister city.

We can to a stop at a one story house that looked to be lively. He walked up the front steps and took out a key, which surprised me. This is where he lives?, I found the thought hard to entertain since he acted just like every other boy in our school.

We walked inside and I loved it instantly. The walls were a bright red color, and there were pictures of the family hung up in random places. It was so welcome and inviting.

"I know, I know, it's no mansion like yours. But it's home." For once Blake sounded humble.

"It's perfect." I stated never feeling more cliche.

Silently he went to his room and packed while I skimmed over pictures. One particular photo caught my eye. It was a boy about the age of ten with dark skin and a bright smile, and what looked to be a younger version of Blake. Blake was kissing the boy on the check and looked happy to do so. It was such a pretty moment I understood why whoever took the photo took it.

"That was my first boyfriend. He died of cancer a month after the picture was taken. We still keep the photo up to honor him." Blake's voice startled me.

"Boyfriend?" I was a little confused.

"Yeah." His voice was hostile like he didn't want to talk about it.

"Okay." I didn't know why I said that it just made since to me in that moment.

He looked relieved, and nodded a small thanks before stating, "We should get going."

"Yeah your right. I'll call a taxi." I said already typing in the familiar number.

It took twenty minutes of silence for the taxi to arrive. When it did we both climbed in and I told the man to take us to Colorado if he could. We payed him our dues and we were on our way.  After we had left and where on a busy high way Blake turned to me as pale as snow, "Did we ever tell our parents what we were doing?"

The words took a minute to register in my brain before spewing out my answer of words that weren't school appropriate.
