Once the night hit, they settled within the trees of another forest. Tony chose to stay up and watch for the beginning of the night as the others began to set up their tents and sleeping bags. Back at Emor, the warriors purchased sleeping bags and tents for their journey. Luckily, the village accepted and used the same type of currency as other villages. They spent all their remaining money on supplies, which was no mistake. With Jasper and Brandy, they used their parents supplies, since their parents were adventurers. Macey didn't need to pack, for she always traveled far from home.
Tony looked up at the night sky. He lent Lucy his sleeping bag and tent, except she refused to be away from his side. She slept, laying her head on his right thigh as he ignored her presence. It was a gorgeous night. The stars twinkled as if it were their way of communicating to one another. Though the nights were never his favorite, for he favored more of the heat than the cold.
The fire in the center of the group crackled, spitting out sparks of light. The rocks that surrounded the fire tamed the flame, refusing to allow it out into the forest. Tony pushed the wood of the fire with a stick, causing the sparks around to ignite once more. At this point, the nights were his only escape to privacy.
"Tony", a voice sighed. "Don't fear the sword. I'm not going to hurt you."
Tony looked up at his father. "But what if you do?"
"What have I told you about the 'what ifs'. They forbid progress, so ignore the possibilities! Focus on the result!" Lee held his sword up once more as the small child sprinted towards him.
There was a sound of shuffling behind Tony. It took him away from his daydream, the memory of his training. He gently lifted Lucy's head off his leg, laying it down on the cloth of the sleeping bag. He then got to his feet and faced the bushes behind him. With slow and careful steps, he neared the bush, awaiting for a massive beast or a wolf to pounce at him.
Getting past the bush, he now faced the pitch darkness of the forest. The dark never feared him, nothing did. He had no fear. He was a strong young man, ready for anything to threaten him in the night. Taking steps further, he spotted a figure in the distance. The shadow of it made it seem as if it was a huge creature of the trees.
He whistled, catching the figures attention. It stayed in it's location as he got closer. Soon enough, they were only a foot apart. Squinting his eyes, he saw a figure of a person. "Hello", he whispered.
"Hello", it responded. A girl stood in front of him.
"What are you doing out here in the forest at this time?"
"I-I'm sorry. I was just separated from my friend and..."
"Is her name Lucy?"
"Yes. How'd you know?"
"We've found your friend." He reached for her hand, grabbing it as she squeezed his. He lead her back to the camp where he told her to rest with Lucy.
Once he was sure she was asleep, along with everyone else, he continued to his peace. He had to admit, he wasn't the strongest of the group. He was by far one of the weakest. But why did these people follow him? He understood with Cole, since they grew up together. But what about Jason. He was built, possibly the strongest of the group. And Sam? He was the best in hand-to-hand combat. And what about Jasper? He knew how to fight better than Tony.
