Chapter Three: The Time Between

AUTHOR'S POV  

Larry is sound asleep when he hears a thumping sound in his ear. The sound isn't alarming at all. Instead it's soft, relaxing...and steady. He then feels a warmth against his cheek and it only adds to the comfort he feels listening to the smooth sound. He slowly opens his eyes...curious as to what is bringing him such serenity. He discovers that he's been resting on the hard, chiseled chest of his other half so he smiles warmly for only Laurent can bring him such comfort, such peace. Then the recollection of the previous day comes to his mind and the smile slowly fades for he is remembering the moment Laurent told him that he's joined the Legion...and that he's leaving in just a matter of days. The mere thought of it is enough to allow his emotions to spill out at such news because after all, the two of them have been thick as thieves since they were born...but there is nothing that Larry wants more than to see his twin happy so putting his feelings aside he granted Laurent his support. Although he still wonders what it will do to him to see Laurent leave but he won't waste another moment thinking about that. This is the time for them to enjoy each other's presence for it can only make them closer. It can only make their bond that much stronger. He also recalls coming home and mama's face revealing that she knew Larry had received the news. Being the strong, amazing woman she is she assured Larry just as she assured Laurent that their time away from each other would never take away from the fact that they are eternal soulmates and it's usually the tough times that show soulmates what they're made of. It proves just how strong a bond like that can be. They ended up spending the remainder of the day practically joined at the hip whether it was sitting next to each other at dinner or next to each other as they watched TV in bed...eventually falling asleep so Larry waking up to this sweet face made him deliriously happy. Of course there's something else happening between them that they both feel but neither have the courage to bring up. There are romantic feelings building and with Laurent going off to a different world these feelings have grown to be much stronger...and understandably so. Their eye contact is longer than normal, their hugs are more electrifying and lasting longer than normal as well. Now, as Larry's head continues to rest on top of Laurent he slowly turns his head up to look at his face and he finds himself fighting the urge to kiss his lips that he's sure are as soft and plump as they look. He manages to resist the temptation of kissing them but he has to connect with them in some way so takes his right index finger and gently smooths it across his bottom lip. It feels just like he imagined it. After several soft strokes he can see Laurent's head moving so he slowly removes his finger and watches in anticipation of seeing those eyes. Seconds later they open and his head immediately turns in Larry's direction. Normally they would greet each other with a "good morning" but the connection with their eyes are enough so their morning couldn't be better. Larry's gaze darts between Laurent's eyes and lips while Laurent's gaze wonders all over...from the top of Larry's head to the tip of his chin. He just has to touch him so he slowly lifts his left hand and takes his thumb and pointer finger to gently grasp Larry's chin. He then moves his hand to his cheek and takes his thumb to swipe it across softly before traveling down to Larry's lower lip. The quietness of the entire home completely envelopes them giving new meaning to the proverbial phrase "silence is golden" where saying nothing at all is preferred over speaking and in that silence they're discovering things about the other's face that they hadn't noticed before. Whether it's the depth of their amazing bone structure or the richness of their brown eyes. Whatever they're discovering, it's a beautiful sight to see. Eventually the silence is broken by a knock on the door and mama's sweet voice....

Mama: "Breakfast is ready my loves". 

Laurent: "Oki mama. We'll be right there".

Silence follows so Laurent goes back to gazing into Larry's eyes for several moments before Larry breaks it and speaks softly to him.... 

Larry: "So what do you want to do today"?
