A/N: Prepare yourselves my loves...

AUTHOR'S POV

Still in the small, grassy area...tears still streaming from his eyes one after the other Laurent cradles Keith in his arms. The sounds of war are still going on around him so the danger of him getting hit is very likely...but he just can't let him go for it's painfully hard to believe and accept this heartbreaking reality. From the moment he met Keith he knew they would be life long friends. Other than Larry, he has never known someone with such a genuine spirit and a kind heart so this is simply devastating. Looking down at his fallen friend it seems as though he's merely sleeping...but Laurent presses his lips together then shuts his eyes as more tears fall because he knows he isn't. Minutes later he slowly brings his hand up to softly touch Keith's face and he instantly notices the blood on his hand...Keith's blood. He brings his hand closer to his face and gazes at it then softly balls it into a fist before gulping and looking back down at Keith. That's when something hits him. Keith's mom. Keith was so excited about the road ahead of them as she's finally getting help. After this war they would've had the chance to start over...but now Keith is gone. Laurent just can't wrap his head around it but what he does know is that he's going to be the one to tell her. Of course it's customary for the Legion to bring news of soldiers killed in combat to their homes...but he simply can't imagine this news coming from anyone else. He's always wanted to meet her just like Keith met the most important people in his life. How he would give anything for the conditions to be different and for the bright eyed, warm personality known as Keith to be with him when he does meet her. Gazing at him still he becomes all the more determined. Mere seconds go by as several thoughts run through Laurent's mind when he suddenly feels a burning sensation in his side causing him to belt out a yelp. The sensation becomes more intense so he places his right hand over the pained area...instantly feeling something warm and wet. Bringing his hand back up to look at it he's noticing that his blood is now blending in with the dried up blood of Keith's. He's been hit again and he realizes the spot he's in isn't so safe after all. He starts to give off a slight panic as evident by the slight heaving of his chest and wide eyes. Just as he's feeling the intensity of pain from it he's feeling yet another pain and belting out, "aaagghhh". As much as he wants to hold onto Keith he can't. His grip begins to slowly but surely let go until Laurent is flat on his back next to him. With his breathing labored now he can still hear the sounds of machine guns and bombs...but they aren't as clear as before so it appears the war is finally over...but only slightly above consciousness he isn't so sure. Eventually he hears the sound of his fellow comrades swirling around him and calling his name. He sees two pairs of eyes on him...but he's too weak to move and the next second his eyes are closing completely. He sees nothing but darkness behind his eyes...that is until he sees a bright light with a cloudiness to it...
