Jakes POV
It's been two weeks since I've been abducted and Jason hasn't laid a hurtful finger on me until today. I don't even know why he did it... He just beat me till I was barely breathing and now he's treating me like a broken pet...I thought as I peered into Jason's eyes. He towered over my broken body even though he sat beside me in the bed.
"I'm sorry... " Jason's voice was full of guilt as he got up and grabbed a first aid kit. He sat back down beside me and grabbed my bleeding wrist. He began to clean it and the he put gauze and a bandage over the large gash.
"What did I do to deserve this? What the fuck did I do to get you to beat me nearly to death!" I asked in extreme pain and anger. Jason looked away from me.
"You didn't do anything wrong this time... I just lost control..." I chuckled and coughed coldly.
"Well you better regain control and never lay another finger on me like that again or I will kill myself to save you the trouble and I promise I will!" Jason snapped his attention back to me as I lost what sanity I had left.
"Don't say that!" He taped down the gauze and held my arm firmly. I wince at how hard he held on to my arm.
"Your hurting me..." I whisper as I put a hand over his.
"Sorry..." He let go of my arm and stood up. "I'm going to go make lunch, wanna come upstairs?" He looks back at me and I slowly sit up.
"Sure, I've never been upstairs before." I say bluntly.
"Here, I'll help you." I flinch back when he reaches a hand out.
"No! I can handle myself..." I stand up on my own and fall back into the bed. "Okay I need help..." I say hesitantly. Jason helps me up and walks me over to the stairs. He picks me up bridal style and walks me up the stairs and through the basement door. He sets me down in the living room and helps me walk to the kitchen table. I sit down and notice the front door and a window beside it. This could be my only chance to escape! But if I stay and prove I'm loyal maybe he'll let me go! I thought staring out the window and into the surrounding forest. I could feel myself slipping into a separate reality before I heard my name called.
"Jake? I hope you not thinking of running away!" He took the knife he was using to cut vegetables with and pointed it towards me.
"No, I was just thinking of how beautiful the green of the trees blends with the gray of the sky." I lie. Jason chuckles and continues cutting up the carrot.
"You really are a special one... Usually the people I bring here try to escape the first day you've been here, what? Two weeks and you haven't tried to escape once... I've never kept anyone more than three days without killing them." I could hint a bit of sarcasm in his voice. "But what makes you so special? I've tried killing you twice!" He slams the knife into the counter making me jump slightly as he turns around. "Why is it every time I try to kill you I can't?" I cringe in my seat as Jason comes closer.
"I don't know..." I look away from his piercing eyes expecting to be beaten again. I hear a sigh and I see Jason set his hand on the table.
"Have you ever been abused by a family member?" I look back up at Jason and he avoided my eye contact.
"Yes, by my good for nothing mother..." I look away from him again and look back out the window.
"My father used to beat me... Rape me... Throw me in the closet for weeks with no food! I killed him, he was my first... Then a hobo raping a girl and it just became my job... Killing the bad people on this earth and the people who anger me... You drive me insane and I just can't kill you..." A shiver went up my spin as he turned my head towards him forcing me to look into his eyes.
"Maybe it's because you know I don't deserve to die... I've never done a thing wrong in my life, maybe it's my innocence keeping you from killing me." I blurted out just as a thought.
"Maybe..." Jason smiles mischievously and returns to cooking.
