Chapter 5
(Healing)
Star’s point of view
I entered my room and froze. Facing away from me was Jarrod. I stood there dumbfounded as I looked at his muscular back. His back was completely healed. There wasn’t a single scratch. Then again I was also shocked to see him up with no splints on his arms.
He turned around and looked at me. “I can’t believe you’re already healed!” I said completely taken by surprise. Jarrod looked at me funny. “What?” He gestured to himself and I realized he wasn’t dressed.
“I am so sorry Jarrod! I saw your back and….” I turned around and quickly walked out of the room; my face red with embarrassment. If Jarrod hadn’t gestured to himself I probably wouldn’t have noticed he was standing there in only his boxers. I almost tripped as I tried to flee from the room as quickly as my legs would move

It felt good to remove the splints and get out of bed all on my own. I got up and walked into Star’s private bathroom and took a shower. The water felt good. I was almost afraid to know what kind of soap I’d find in a girl’s bathroom.
I was somewhat surprised to see Irish spring. A frown crossed my face before I could stop it. A girl, with Irish spring soap? Star had to have a boyfriend. ‘Damn it!’ I didn’t know why but I suddenly felt mad at her. She’d brought me home and taken care of me only to find out she had a fucking boyfriend. Okay yes I’d be dead without her but damn it! Nothing was going my way this week!
I left the shower and dried off with a green towel. I entered her bedroom and began getting dressed. I put on my boxers and looked at the pair of jeans and t-shirt that was there. ‘I wonder if these are her boyfriend’s
Sensing a presence, I turned around to see Star standing just inside the room looking shocked. I internally smiled. ‘She must like what she sees,’ I thought to myself.
“I can’t believe you’re already healed!” she said completely taken by surprise.
‘I’m healed?! That’s what she noticed?! What about the fact I’m barely dressed?!’ I gestured to myself bring my dress, or lack there of, to her attention.
“I am so sorry Jarrod! I saw your back and….” Star said trying to apologize. She turned around and quickly walked out of the room; her face red with embarrassment.
I couldn’t help but be pleased. While her glance had been brief, I had sensed her approval. Even though she practically ran from the room, I knew she’d seen enough to be flustered. Pleased, I looked back at the clothes.
‘Damn boyfriend!’ I thought picking up the jeans. My fingers touched something plastic and I realized it was a tag. These weren’t another man’s clothes. Star had bought them for me. Maybe it’s stupid, but I felt a sense of satisfaction in knowing they were bought specifically for me.
I looked at the shirt and internally laughed. She’d replaced my ruined shirt with a duplicate. Pleased, I got dressed.
I picked up my phone and looked at it. The power was practically gone. I couldn’t speak yet but I had thought I would text Grant. This wouldn’t do. With my phone in hand, I walked out to the living room.

Star’s point of view
‘I can’t believe I didn’t notice he was in his boxers!’ I shouted at myself. I lowered my head into my hands; elbows propped up on my knees. Worse yet is I couldn’t help but notice how incredible of a body he had when it was brought to my attention. I have dated a lot of fit guys but, wow, Jarrod blew them all away.
