Chapter 12

(Welcome Back)

Jarrod’s point of view

I looked the new red bike over. It had been delivered to the shop about an hour ago and this was the first time I’d seen it. I didn’t actually like many red bikes but this one with silver crescents was nice. Then again it was more of a crimson red instead of fire engine red.

“What do you think?” Sam asked.

“Not bad,” I replied. “It’s a nice bike. Good paint job. The engine’s not powerful enough though. I doubt it rides as smooth as my ninja did.”

“Or as smooth as...” I looked at him and he abruptly shut his mouth.

“I certainly hope that wasn’t a remark about my sister.” The two wolves looked over to see Kyle standing there less than pleased.

“No because if it was Sam knows I’d have to hurt him,” I replied.

“Ninja was far better than my old mustang,” Sam replied covering his ass. “What are you doing here? Titan need Grant or something?”

“Titan doesn’t know I’m here,” Kyle admitted.

Hearing commotion I looked over by the doors to see a small group of guys walk in. “Sam you got them.” He nodded and walked away. “I need to check on another bike out back anyway. We can speak there.” Kyle didn’t argue and followed me into the back before we walked out of the back of the building and into a workshop.

I kept quiet till we entered the finishing area where no one else was. I looked over an orange and black racing bike briefly before I looked over at Star’s brother. “What do you want Kyle?”

“I want you to send her away,” Kyle replied standing with his arms crossed. “I don’t want her in the middle of this.”

“No. You know as much as I do the danger never ends. Sending her away until everything blows over isn’t the answer,” I said flatly.

“I meant for good. Star has no business….”

“Star is more loyal than most wolves,” I informed him before he could finish his sentence. “She didn’t have to save my life but she did.” I looked away from him and the bike for a moment as a flash of her taking care of me during my healing time ran through my mind.

“I was almost if not as anti human as your alpha but…not Star. I won’t willingly hurt her or give her up,” I said firmly looking back at the blonde wolf. “I don’t know how you could’ve. I don’t understand how you could hurt her so much.”

“I love Star,” Kyle snapped.

“So much you turned your back on her!” I retorted. “She loves you and every member of my pack knows how hurt she was when you walked away. You ripped her heart out!”

“I was trying to protect her!”

“Yeah well you did a piss poor job of that!” I sneered. “She damn near ended up raped before she ever met me. As a human she was almost hurt by others because you weren’t looking out for her!” I snarled

“What are you talking about?” Kyle asked looking unnerved by the thought.

“She was at a party and the punch was spiked. She didn’t know until our first time that she was still a virgin. She woke up naked with a guy and thought things had taken place. Luckily for her they hadn’t but she thought it had. Even thinking so she didn’t willingly sleep with anyone until me which says a lot for her. If you’d have been keeping tabs on her though I doubt you’d have let something like that happen.”
