Song is "All To Myself" by Marianas Trench. I'm excited for this chapter. I'm not sure where I got the idea. It's kind of, like, old China... Like the movie Mulan ....Idk idk idk. Anyways, enjoy! In Gaara's POV.
"I'm glad you kissed me," Abby says softly. We're almost to the village she so badly wants to visit. She said that she's known about it forever but hasn't ever gotten the chance to see it with her own eyes.
"I'm glad I did too," I admit. She sighs in content and squeezes my hand.
"Remember the first day we ever knew each other, when I made you take your shirt off so I could treat your wound?" Abby looks at me.
"Of course I remember."
"You looked pretty damn cute with your shirt off. Just saying. I mean, other than the fact that you were injured and bleeding all over the place."
I sigh and kiss her head. "What a great memory," I say with sarcasm. She giggles softly and plays with my fingers.
We walk in silence and she points out the village as we get to the top of a hill. "There it is," she tells me. "I'm kind of nervous."
Nervous?
"Wait, the great Abby Bennet is nervous?" I tease her. She sends me a fake frown.
We enter the village and Abby woos softly. "Here goes nothing, Kuma. Our first adventure starts right now."
It's only just now started for her? Really?
"I'm hungry, Gaara. Let's go get something to eat," she suggests. We walk further into the village. It's decorated in a classic style with lanterns and the like. It has houses designed like the ones in most villages, but the people are, well, different.
It's noticeable that the men in the village seem highly confident and arrogant. I haven't seen a woman walking around without a man attached to her side yet, and the women don't really speak.
Abby taps me and I glance at her. "Foooooood." I nod and we approach a stand selling grilled vegetable kabobs. (Are those a thing? I think they are.)
"Hi there. Can I get, uhm, two of the vegetable things please?" Abby asks, her voice soft and polite. I never noticed, but she seems kind of socially awkward. Must be because she grew up without a lot of socialization.
The man running the stand looks at her and scoffs. It makes my blood boil. "Can I help you, Sir?" he asks, looking at me.
I'm not sure what to say. "I mean, the lady here ordered two kabobs. You can get her those."
The man laughs, as if I made a joke. "Is this your girl, Sir?" I frown at him.
"I mean, yeah, we're together..." I'm confused. The man notices.
"But she's, y'know, yours, isn't she?"
"Like, my girlfriend?"
"No Sir, your property."
Property?
"Uhm, excuse me. I'm nobody's property, buddy," Abby informs the man running the stand.
"I didn't give you permission to speak," the man says back to her.
What is going on here?
"Wait, wait, what's going on? Why do you use the word 'property?'" I ask. I'm genuinely curious. I usually don't voice my curiosities, and doing this much socializing without threatening to kill someone isn't really like me. I guess being around Abby keeps me calm.
