Chapter Five

The moment Sean's blood flowed down her throat, Luna accepted her odds. She was now a Vampire... and who cares? Drinking from his sturdy body felt ten times more refreshing than drinking a gallon of water during a hangover, better than warm, homemade soft chocolate chip cookies infused with delicious caramel bites that melt in your mouth. Her palm spanned his shoulder and skyward, dancing betwixt his strands of hair above the back of his neck. Luna inclined, pressing her curves firmly against him.

How can this feel so amazing?

With each drag of her sucking, her body lit aflame. Luna felt intoxicated with the dark, rich strength pouring into her system from Sean's life-blood. Her nipples strained against her top and she absent minded rubbed it against his chest. He smelled of fresh pine and nature; all masculine and she couldn't resist skimming the tip of her nose against his pulse.

Sean stiffened, and she heard the soft thudding of heartbeats pounding erratically together. He clenched his fists beside his thighs, crinkled his eyebrows together, and let out a ragged breath that he seemed to have held.

He's mad at me, she thought as she recalled how he took every opportunity to voice his dislike for vampires, aka 'leeches'.

Luna regrettably withdrew, and swiped at her chin with the back of her hand. Not wanting the blood go to waste, she licked it clean off of her wrist and took a peek at Sean just as a knock sounded on the door.

"Come in," he commanded, his voice gruff. His eyes were leaden, giving him an even fiercer look than before.

Is my vision weaking, or are his eyes friggin' glowing blue?

Sean closed his eyes briefly, and turned away, avoiding eye contact. She saw him tighten his fists, the veins on his forearm prominent. A voice in the back of her mind warned her that there was something threatening about this man... in the most delightful way.

Bad Luna.

A woman in her mid-twenties sauntered into the bedroom, with an abundance of loose red curls and an air of elegance. Are all inhumane creatures so friggin' gorgeous? It's so unfair. The woman gave the area a visual sweep, spotted Sean and offered him a curt nod, "Sean," she greeted with respect.

"Melinda," he rose to his feet.

He really was tall, and now that she got a better look of him in the light, she realized that he was breathtakingly handsome. When he grabbed her by the chin earlier, she nearly suffocated from the intensity those sky-blues bore into her.

Oh lord have mercy, she needed to get out of here soon before she complied with whatever he demanded of her.

Sean drew Luna close, and raised her cuffs for Melinda.

Melinda tilted the cuffs this way and that, analyzing the scripture engraved on the thick metal. "Hmm... these scriptures are not complex," she mumbled gibberish and instantly the cuffs cracked and clunked on the ground.

Luna felt a rush of excitement, she's free!

Without even realizing it, she pranced forward and wrapped her arms around the woman in an embrace, "Thank you mystical stranger!"

Melinda, startled at first, gave a smile in response and patted Luna's shoulder awkwardly; "No problem," and quickly retreated the vicinity.

"I really do appreciate all the help, but I have to go now," said Luna to Sean, as she rubbed her wrists where the cuffs were. Surprisingly, they weren't bruised. Matter of fact, her wrists didn't even feel tender anymore. Treading towards the exit, she was about to make her departure... until Sean hooked his fingers by her shawl, hauling her back and halting her steps.

"Where do you think you're going?" Sean spun her around and she was faced with his stern expression. "The sun is rising."

She frowned, confused. "For real? Then I've wasted more time than I've wanted, I have to hurry and get back to-"she covered her mouth before she could mention Leo.

Sure she felt grateful for the help, but she still didn't trust these unknown creatures. Who knows what they'd do to Leo? She reflected on the massacre that resulted in her escape.

They're capable of anything.

He grimaced, "You've been in an anxious mood since we've arrived. Is the castle not to your liking?"

She remembered her initial thoughts entering the opulent ginormous building. It was stunning, spacious, dressed with antique furniture and high ceilings... but it felt wrong being this out of reach, witnessing the exquisite scenery without enjoying it with Leo or Rissa.

Luna nodded enthusiastically while fidgeting with his hold. "Yeah, nice pad ya' got, but we're all adults here. I'm sure you have some business to get back to. I'll just be out of your way, and attend mine."

Sean seated his palm against the base of her throat and closed his fingers. His hold was firm, yet he applied no pressure that indicated he wanted to strangle her. Leering downwards, his thick lashes created shadows on his rigid cheekbones; conveying a wicked look with his sharp blue eyes. "Have no mistake woman; you are mine as I am yours. Now that we've crossed paths, I will not give you the opportunity to escape," inclining forward, his lips were mere inches apart from hers. Their breaths mingled and she looked away, feeling minuscule within his proximity. "What business do you have outside of bearing my children and living in luxury?"

Her cheeks flushed at the mention of 'bearing children'. Luna gulped, her voice caught in her throat. "Ch-children," she stammered embarrassed with the topic. That meant... sex.

Sex with gorgeous (still a stranger practically) Sean.

Burly and dominant Sean.

Sean.

Luna fought the urge to hide under a rock. She was attracted, yes; but her focus wasn't on procreating.

Yet.

"We're strangers, and call me old-school but I can't have sex with someone I don't even love, never mind having children! PLURAL! More than one! I'd have to want at least one first," Luna exclaimed, tearing free of his hold.

"This means you've had a lover already? Well, that matters naught. We're mates by more than just our physical being. Our souls are entwined, whether it's this life or the next, you and I will always be. It is done," his voice was cold with an omniscient note. "Love is insignificant in this matter."

INSIGNIFICANT? WHAT BARBARIC PIECE OF SHIT THEORY?

"I'm so done with this conversation. Lead the way, or I will find my way out," she huffed in irritation. How can she be so magnetized to him, yet every time he opens his mouth they're bickering?

Sean, stoic as ever reacted as if he didn't just address her like she was some kind of irrelevant chess piece in his life. "If you're so adamant on handling your business, I'll attend with. You mentioned Connecticut? I'm assuming your human residence. We'll take leave, come sun down."

She almost questioned him, but remembered that not a short while ago she was drinking from him as if he was the legendary fountain of youth everyone's been dying to explore. Meaning, she's a vampire. Vampires can't withstand sunlight.

"Fuck," she muttered. Absent minded, she stalked towards the shades. Luna didn't want to believe she couldn't savor the sun rays anymore. That meant less time to spend with Leo. She nearly whimpered at the thought. Just like drinking from Sean's neck, she needed confirmation that she couldn't walk in the sun. Luna always asked for proof or had to witness with her own pupils before she believed anything, so she reached out her fingers towards the blinds.

Within an instant, Sean was in front her, yanking her away before she could fully raise the blinds. The golden rays danced through and grazed the back of her knuckles.

It fucking sizzled.

She winced, and felt her skin instantly ignite only where the sun touched her. The scorching pain traveled through her bones, knocking the breath out of her. Luna gasped in sharp agony.

Sean pinned her against the wall, looming menacingly above her. "What the fuck are you doing? Do you have a fucking death wish, woman?"

He was furious!
