I am awake.
I know that I am awake.
But my eyes won't open and my limbs can't move. I can think and hear, but I cannot speak or touch or move.

I am numb.

I can remember bright lights facing me. I'm sleeping, most likely and all I'm thinking of right now is a dream, but it feels strange.

I don't like this. It feels as if something is wrong. It feels as though something is very, very wrong.

All sound is smothered. There are voices that sound close, but they're still blurry and uneven. I can here the shuffling of various items around wherever I am but they all seem muffled by a pillow. It's all very strange and it's all very creepy.

I'm not quite sure if I like this dream.

Slowly, the sound of things becomes crisper. I can distinctly hear a portion of the conversation taking place. The voices seem somewhat familiar. I cannot place them. They might be someone who I know.

I can't recall that much of whom I know, though. It all seems fuzzy. A distant memory. There are little things I remember. I remember the name Riley for some reason, and I remember lessons from school.

It comforts me to know that all basic knowledge of mine is still there, but I am still confused. Who is my family? Are they the strangely familiar voices? Or have I lost my mind.

Is this what death is? I thought it was seven minutes of reliving my past. Not this infinite hell if non-remembrance.

If this is the road to death, I'd like it to come a little faster.
