"Suzaku."
"Yes Nunnally?"
"Could you please bring me some water?"
Suzaku took off his mask, there was no need for a disguise here, "of course, your grace."
Nunnally smiled, "How many times have I told you to call me Nunnally when we are alone?"
"My apologies dearest sister."
As Suzaku headed down the corridor, Nunnally looked around: she was back in her home near ashford academy, a little weary from the travelling. Or maybe it was the responsibilities, being Queen was not as easy as one may think.
As she looked out the window, she saw a sight so familiar, yet so alien.
"Its been a while since I came back." She reminisced.
"A ruler must serve her country, and you are doing a fine job." Suzaku was back and hands her the cup of water, "Your water, sister."
"Ah thank you Suzaku." she took a small sip from the fancy looking mug, "Is Kallen still attending classes?"
"She told me just last night how hard the tests are getting." Suzaku smiled.
And so did Nunnally.
"You two seem to be quite close," She held her hand up to her mouth, "what were you two doing so late at night?"
Suzaku frowned, "It was just a phone call! To talk about, err, stuff. I swear."
"Really now? I can't imagine a student and an army general phoning each other late at night to talk about just... 'stuff'." She pressed forth her advantage, "After all, I know at least one has feelings for the other..."
Flustered now, Suzaku raised his voice, "I do not!"
"Do too."
"Do not!"
"Do too."
"Meow."
They both turned their heads. A small cat was sitting on the window ledge, unaware of the war zone he had just stepped in.
"Arthur!" Nunnally cried. The little cat knew his master and jumped into her arms.
"There there."
"He's still at the academy huh?" Suzaku laughed, "You know the old days were good. You, me, and Lelo-... My brother." He looked to Nunnally, afraid of bringing up such a sensitive subject.
"Yes the old days were good, but he's dead Suzaku, and in our world people stay dead." She stared directly at him, "I know you did it for the sake of the country and I understand it, I bear no ill will. Past memories can be painful but I am a queen now, I can handle myself." And with those words ringing in an empty hallway she turned her wheelchair around and left.
"Tch" Suzaku clicked his tongue at none in particular, picked up his mask and decided to take a stroll through the school grounds after he got changed of course.
"Meow."
"So will you be joining me little fellow?" He crouched and held out his hand.
Arthur purred and rubbed against his open palm, a smooth silky texture that felt quite like soft pillows.
"I'll take that as a yes."
