We walked in the hospital. The nurses said that we had to wait in the waiting room, while Alex was doing the exams. No one was allowed to go with her. And that broke our hearts.
Ben was sitting next to me playing with his sleeves. James and Sam were on their phones, while Dennis was listening to music with his earphones. Since he was sitting in the other side of me, I could listen to his music too. Suddenly the melody changed and our new song Here I Am stared playing. I small smile went to my face, but quickly faded as I released the reason we were in the hospital in the first place.
After half an hour we saw Alex walking towards us and we all stood up quickly. Her face was emotionless.
-We have to wait for the results! She said nervously.
We nodded and sat down again. Dennis was holding her pale hand, while Ben was probably having a panic attack. But I wasn't sure, because he could hide his emotions really easily.
The doctor came to us and told us the hard truth. She told us what we wanted to hear. Ben and Dennis stared to sob, Sam stared to cry, me and James tried to hold the tears back, while Alex's face was emotionless. Her cancer was back and this time there wasn't anything we could to save her. Therapies wouldn't help, said the doctor. We were going to loose her.We went back to the bus, where Alex sat on the couch. Suddenly she stared to cry. Her cries became sobs and Dennis rushed to her side, while we looked sadly at her. That was the first time we had ever seen her cry since the day she was diagnosed. At that moment we all realized how serious the whole situation is.
