Chapter 1
Chase’s P.O.V
Pounding.
“Boom! Boom! Boom!”
That was the sound of their hearts; each and every one of them, except her. Her heart barely beat at all. Who was she? She had simple brown hair that hooded her face. Until she looked over. My breath caught in my throat. Her eyes were the most vibrant purple I had ever seen.
Something inside of me awakened. The beast I try so hard to hide was on the verge of coming out. “Not here.” I thought.
I needed to know her; the girl with the vibrant purple eyes, simple brown hair, and pale skin. The girl with the strange heart. She was special, I knew that right away.
“Chase.” The teacher said snapping his fingers in front of my face.
I blinked in confusion turning my face away from the beautiful girl. Jason snickered beside me. The teacher stood there tapping his foot expectantly.
“Yes Mr. Crawford?” I asked trying to sound innocent.
Mr. Crawford scoffed at me and walked away while saying, “Sorry it’s not convenient to stare at Miss. Lacey and do your work at the same time.”
Everyone laughed. I kept my face a solid wall of no emotion. The beast angrily tried clawing its way up itching to get out and teach this meaningless man a lesson. I’m not human. I’m a werewolf. Soon to be Alpha of the Dark Moon pack, the second largest pack in America. I haven’t found my mate yet, but my wolf says she’s close. You have to touch your mate to know that you’re mates. My fingers were just dying to touch the girl; Lacey was what he called her.
“I need to touch her.” I mind linked Jason.
“Woah dude! Keep your creepy fantasies to yourself.” He replied back.
I gave him the ‘are you stupid’ look and smacked him upside the head while the teacher wasn’t looking.
“I think she’s mine.” I said back.
He looked at me with wide eyes and whispered aloud, “Really?”
I nodded as an answer.
“Class you have the rest of the period as a free period before lunch.” Mr. Crawford said.
“Be right back.” Jason said.
Before I could stop him he was already right in front of her. My wolf was howling. He didn’t like that she was so close to another male. But I wasn’t even sure she was mine. I could hear them with my enhanced wolf hearing.
“Hi!” Jason exclaimed.
At that she looked up startled. “Uh h-h-hi.” She said softly.
Her voice was like the beautiful sound of bells ringing, it was absolutely perfect.
“Are you new here?” Jason asked.
“Y-y-yes.” She stuttered.
“You should sit with me at lunch.”
