Chapter 1

Charlotte's P.O.V

Yes. It is true, ladies and gentlemen. Chris's dad was the reason my mom is gone.

How did this happen? I don't know. My dad said he will tell me once the time is right.

Tears were coming to my eyes. I didn't see where I was going. My vision hit something hard.

I stared to get dizzy. I feel to the gravel floor with a smack.

Then, blackness. That was I could see.

Tick, tick went the clock.

"What happened?" A woman's voice, it was soft and quiet.

"I don't know. I found her outside, and she was knocked out.I got here as quick as I could."

Again the woman's voice filled my ears, It would be best if we called her parents. Do you know their number?"

"Sadly, I do not."

Wait a minute, I know that voice.  It's Chris. Well, guess I know what he's been up to.

"Well, I guess I'll have to wait until she wakes up. Thanks for bringing her here, Chris. I'll take it from here."

"No problem. See you, Nurse Beck."

"Bye, Chris."

I opened one eye. Then, another.

Everything was blurry.I could see the outline of someone's body.

Then, just like that, I could see. It was weird. It didn't think this would happen so quickly.

"Charlotte? Are you okay?"

Right in front of my eyes is the face of Chris.

My anger boiled to the extreme. My fists clenched at my side. I muttered in the lowest voice I could, " Get out."

His eyes filled with concern and worry for me. He knelt down beside me, " What's wrong? Do you need anything?"

I shook my head no, " All I want right now is for you to get out of here."

He rolled his eyes at me, " Fine. I'll leave. Bye."

Chris's P.O.V

As I made my way out of the nurses office I thought to myself about what just happened?

Why is she acting this way? I know her mom died.. But, didn't that happened a long time ago?

Maybe she's still trying to accept the fact that her mom is gone.

I guess I'll have to ask her later. In the meantime, I have to get to class. Don't want to make the math teacher angry. It's not pretty at all.

Charlotte's P.O.V

As I made my way to 6th period English, I was stopped by Josh. Who was 6'2.

"Where do you think you're going, missy?"

"To class." I said in a " duh" voice.

"What do you say.. we ditch class? You and me?" I knew what he was doing. He was trying to be charming and smooth.

Let me tell you, it didn't work on me.

Usually, the people who fall for his charming personality and good looks were dumb, blonde cheerleaders. I can assure you, I'm not a cheerleader.

Never have and never will be.

"I say no."

"What? Why?"

"Well, you are the boyfriend of Amy. And I happen, to not like Amy or you. Now if you will excuse me, I have to get to class."

He turned to face me, he was really mad. His face was bright red.
"You'll pay for this, Charlotte!" He shouted at me.

I smiled at me, a sweet smile was on my face.

"Yeah, I don't think that's going to happen. Nice try, though."

Yes! I made to class on time!

Now to sit by..

Oh no.

Not him.

Bring! Went the bell.

"Mrs. Smith why aren't you sitting in your seat? Class stared."

"Oh, sorry."

My face was bright red as I made my way to my seat. I could the other kids snickering. I shot them a glare and they turned there attention back to the teacher.

Class! I have a special announcement to make. Today and for the next couple of weeks you will be working on a project. The project will your partner  you. Well, more like your likes, dislikes, hopes and dreams.And you will be studying your partner. Any questions?"

No one said a word.

"Alright then, I will pick your partner."

I didn't pay much attention after that.

Until, she got to my name.

Charlotte and Chris.

No.

I turned to face him, he had a smirk on his face. Like he knew this would happen.

Why me? Why did I have to be pair up with him?

" You heard the teacher. We only have a couple of weeks. So, let's get to work."
