ISLA
"Hey," I said to Mia, my fingers threaded with hers. "How about no more breaking up from now on?"
She laughed. "Deal. Though both times it was my fault."
"Or maybe I was too harsh," I said. "But whatever it doesn't matter anymore."
"I love you," she whispered softly.
I squeezed her hand. "I love you too."
"Will you go on a date with me?" I asked. "Like an actual date not making out in the backseat of my car or going to a dance. A real date where just the two of us could hang out and have a romantic night."
"That would be great," I said.
"Saturday?" she asked.
"Oh you didn't mean right now?"
She laughed. "No I meant three days from now."
"Okay," I said, "I accept."

Saturday couldn't come fast enough.
I showed up at Mia's house wearing a white long sleeve and black tights. On top was my leather jacket and on my feet were my favourite combat boots.
Mia had said casual and that's why I was doing. Although I was wearing mascara for the first time in ages, along with some eyeliner.
"Hi." Mia greeted me with a quick kiss before leading me into the house.
"Hi Miss Grant," I said.
"Nice to meet you Isla," she replied.
I looked at Mia in confusion.
"We're starting over," Mia said. "Everything from before that never happened."
"What never happened?" I played along as she led me into the kitchen.
"So I'd thought we'd make chocolate covered strawberries because that shouldn't be too difficult for you," she said.
I smiled. "You over estimate me Mia Grant."
She tied an apron around my waist and shrugged. "Maybe."

Mia was right, I was incapable of messing up chocolate covered strawberries.
They came out great and Mia and I feed them to each other as we watched some rom-com.
My phone rang. Groaning, I answered it. "Hey," I said.
"Isla I know you're on a date with Mia and you told none of us to bother you and you probably hate me for this but—"
"Beth please get to the point," I said.
She took a deep breath. "It's O'Connor."
I stood up immediately.
"What's wrong is he hurt?"
"Well not physically," Beth replied.
"What happened?"
I could vaguely hear Mia calling my name as I ran out of the door.
"You can't drive like this!" she said when she grabbed my arm. "Get in the car."
I obediently did what she said and she drove us to Bea and Beth's condo.
I threw open the door. "Where is he?!" I yelled.
Beth pointed to a closed door. I ran through it.
"Leprechaun," I said.
He was in a fetal position on the bed, sobbing his guts out.
In all my years as O'Connor's best friend I had never seen him so... vulnerable.
I hugged him as Bea, Mia and Beth entered the room.
"I'm such a fucking idiot," he cried.
I stroked his hair to calm him down.
"I- I can't believe I kissed him," he said.
"It's okay Park," Bea said as they joined us on the bed with ice cream.
"I can't believe I kissed Mcallister."
"I know Park," I said, hugging him tighter. "We'll get through this."
