The next morning, the girls dress bright and early before heading down to the Great Hall for breakfast and to get their schedules. Lucy gives up eating because everything tastes like cardboard to her, the depressing aura clouding the school affecting the food too. Professor Slughorn passes by the girls to hand out their timetables before moving on to the few other early risers. The girls examine their class line up, knowing that they won't likely be in many, if any, classes together. Lucy growls in annoyance as her Muggle Studies and Potions classes are back to back and she has Defense first thing this morning. Her other classes aren't as bad, being taught by the original professors is reassuring to her because she knows she's safe in those classes. She looks over Bethany's schedule and notes that they have no classes together. They pick at their food solemnly as the Great Hall fills again until they decide to return to the House to gather their books. Lucy leaves Bethany at the door to her classroom before heading through the halls to her Defense Against the Dark Arts class. The door is open so she comes in and claims a seat in the back corner away from the Professor's desk. The only thing to better this class is if someone else sits next to her so Malfoy can't. Her right hand drifts to the ring on her left hand and spins the band around and around absently.
Her attention is drawn to the door as a blonde man with a narrow face walks in. Her lip curls in disgust before she lifts a hand to casually hide it. Students file in quickly just before the class begins and everyone scrambles to grab a seat. The seat next to her remains empty as Amycus leans against the front of his desk. He consults a piece of parchment to see who all is in attendance and a slight frown crosses his face as he searches the room for someone. He puts it aside and begins to bark out the rules for his class, basically boiling down to: Don't speak, don't act, and pretty much don't whatever.
"Alright, who can tell me about the Dark Arts?" He asks casually, though no one answers him or even tries. He slams his hand down on the desk and trains his wand on a random student. "Answer me."
"The Dark Arts are hexes and curses, dark magic, like the Unforgivable Curses." She stammers out.
"Name the curses."
"The Killing curse, Imperius Curse, and the Cruciatus."
Before he can ask anything else, the door opens and Malfoy walks in looking smug. He hands a paper to Amycus who reads it over and nods. Malfoy walks across the room while Lucy fixes him with a stony glare. He sits next to her giving her a smirk in return before Amycus starts to talk again.
"The Cruciatus curse, someone tell me about it. Ah, Lucy Addams, you should know quite a bit about the Cruciatus, don't you?"
Her gaze hardens at the professor while the students all turn to her. She clenches her fist before answering.
"You know all about torturing the innocent, don't you? You know all about holding people against their will over some sick twisted delinquent's idea of slavery, don't you? You and a certain blonde should know all about deserving to rot in Azkaban for the pain and agony you cause! You are worse than trash, you are the dirt underneath my shoe and one day you will beg for mercy as He falls and you Death Eaters are left to run and hide." She bites out, ending her rant on her feet, her fists clenched at her side.
"Crucio!" The spell hits her in the center of her chest, knocking her to the floor.
She bites her lip to keep her screams inside so he can't get satisfaction from her pain. As she writhes around in pain, the students watch on in a mix between fear and awe.
Lucy arrives late to Ancient Runes, apologizing quietly to Professor Babbling and telling her that she got in trouble in her Defense class. The woman gives her a sad look before excusing her tardiness. She takes a seat in the back of the room and pulls out a piece of paper to take notes on as the lecture continues. The class ends in time for lunch and she meets up with Bethany who looks alright. She notices the sour expression on Lucy's face and asks what happened.
"Well, in DADA he talks about the 3 curses, and he pointed me out to taunt me over the Cruciatus curse because he was the one guarding the door while I was trapped and Malfoy sat beside me. Anyway, I snapped and pretty much shouted at Carrow and told him that he deserved to rot in Azkaban with Malfoy and that he was dirt and would one day beg for mercy. He then used me as an example of what it looks like when someone crucio's you."
Bethany's jaw drops before grumbling her thoughts on the matter. She looks up at Lucy suddenly and asks if she's going to tell Fred and the others. Lucy nods her confirmation as she stabs at the food on her plate, not really eating. Someone sits next to her and she looks to Bethany to gauge her reaction before looking herself. A very sour expression is on Bethany's face as she glares at the space next to Lucy.
"Malfoy you must really have a death wish today. You need to get up and march your happy little ass away from me or I will take you down in front of God and everybody." Lucy threatens without turning.
"I'm so hurt Luce, you act like I did something wrong." He muses casually.
"You kidnapped me again and held me hostage in your home under the watch of the Carrow's who are teaching here now. You stalk and obsess over me when I clearly don't want anything to do with you. You were going to kill Dumbledore and let Death Eaters into the castle who hurt innocent children before you fled like a coward. Leave. Before. I. Kill. You." She growls.
"Lucy, Lucy, Lucy. Let's take a walk shall we? We have a free period after this anyhow."
"She's not going anywhere with you Malfoy so shove off!" Bethany cuts in.
"Stay out of this Cronwell. You and your family are filthy blood traitors like the Weasels."
Lucy turns at that statement after seeing the hurt on Bethany's face and punches him out of the chair and onto the floor. The Slytherin table grows silent while the others follow suit. She stands over him, her wand aimed at his chest.
"Talk about my friends and family again and see what happens to you Malfoy. Do what you want to me and I'll get over it, but you mess with the people I love and you'll be begging for a Dementor's kiss."
"Addams! To our office immediately."
She turns to find the Carrows smirking at her.
"One moment, Professors." She sneers before redirecting her attention on the blonde sitting up.
She walks over to him, lifting her foot before swiftly bringing it down on his lower area. She twists her sneaker on it, like she was stomping a cigarette before scowling at him and turning to follow the Carrows out of the Great Hall.
