01 \\ the confident one

Fate works mysteriously. Good Luck!-K. E.

Katana felt a small smug smile crossed her lips. K. E, Katana Evaknoxx, how she loved to play with mind games with people.

"Be sure to write a masterpiece." She whispered, smiling smugly. "Enough to beat mine, which I doubt anyway."

Giddily, she walked into the street as she popped out the stick of the lollipop and threw it to the trash can like a professional basketball player. She cannot fathom her feelings that it might explode from her as one thing repeatedly pops out on her mind. The convention!

Katana twiddled her thumbs idly as she stared through the cars passing by while she keeps on murmuring impatiently, waiting for her brother to arrive. She might break her neck as she checks her watch for the 7th time already. Well every second counts for her for she believes that time is gold.

The loud engine of the incoming car releases black gas. It suddenly stopped right in front of her. She automatically covered her nose, glaring at the black smoke. Her brother hurriedly came out of the car as he brushes the stray loop of his brownish hair when getting struck from the sunlight. He flashed his famous smile to avoid the things that her sister might spat out. He's with a girl.

"I know I'm sorry I'm late. I have to take Herbie to the car shop." He said eventually as he motioned the car.

"It's not even a Herbie! It's a 1963 Volkswagen Bettle." Katana exclaimed, throwing her hands up in the air. "Well first things first. You just need to pass by here and get the money. That's it then you come here late. What could've been worse than that?"

"If I ever found out that you've been using that money on buying cigarettes or worse drugs! I swear you won't ever see the sun set every morning." She said, hitting her brother in a playful manner.

He laughed, as if buying his sister's aloofness. "As If I'm using them. Okay sis, gotta go I need to run to the market. I've got some errands. Bye." He quickly kissed his sister on her cheeks.

She passed through the busy shops of the long skinny road in New York. Taxi horns yanking as the traffic goes on and may seem forever that way. She scans through the pages again of her manuscript for the hundredth time afraid that there might be something wrong or missing from her story. She wanted it to be perfect and to be the best story among the other applicants.

On her early age she wanted to become a detective when she grew up and that's where she bases her story. She loves to write about serial killers and murder related things. She uses her vast imaginations and she's not afraid to take risk for the sake of her story.

The angular structures of the city reared up like a mountain as the ray of the sunlight splits through the tall buildings making it look like a crystal. She stood up there amazed and adoring the beautiful scenery right in front of her. The tall building with the shade of crystal blue, there she stood up and tightened the grip of her files and bag.

"This is it. I know I can do this." She inhaled then exhaled familiarizing the strong feeling of enthusiasm and walked to the door that is built with glass.

Katana confidently strode through the building. The poster was indeed poorly edited but she had been awestruck because of the interior of the building. It wasn't that big—nor too small. In front, almost attention-seeking written in bold and big tarpaulin were the words Writer's Convention. In one side, gushes the silent murmurs of the excited teenagers, on their hand the piece of manuscript they were proud of. In another side, was three tables connected together and there sat three to four people, glasses on their eyes, their brows raised as they surveyed the manuscripts that each people inside the room had passed.
