Chapter 2 -

"Can we sit with you"

I stand up and open the door to let them in one by one as they sit down on the plush cushions.

I take a seat next to the girl and across from Harry.motherfreakin.Potter

They all just look at me for a moment eyeing me up and down probably judging me by my outfit choices. I don't blame them, I'm the only one on the Hogwarts Express wearing all black clothing with eyeliner so sharp it could kill a man.

But I enjoy dressing this way it makes me feel confident and in control despite my natural mermaid femininity.

"Sorry if we're bothering you, there're no more empty compartments " the girl said smiling apologetically at me

"It's alright I don't mind" I say cooly, smiling back at her

"Oh how rude of me, I'm Hermione, this is Ron and that's-"

"Harry Potter I know, it's a pleasure meeting you" I say cutting hermione off, giving harry an angelic smile.

One of the perks of being a mermaid is naturally looking great and be really charming when I want. Most of the time it's awesome but sometimes it can be a bit......misleading

"My name's Sera" I said, smiling at them

"It's n n nice to meet y y you" Ron said stuttering, smiling sheepishly at me

"So Sera are you new here? I don't believe I've seen you before" Hermione asked

"Yea actually I am, I just moved here because of my dad's job transfer and one day an owl dropped a letter in front of the doorstep and here I am"

"What year are you in ?" Harry asked

"I'll be in 5th year"

"Oh that's great we're in our 5th year as well!" Ron said a little bit too excitedly, practically yelling at me with those eager eyes that glisten with anticipation

"Do you know what house you'll be in?"

"No actually I have no idea, my father was a Ravenclaw so i guess maybe that?"

"Ravenclaw huh, you seem like a Slytherin to me" Hermione said, instant regret filling up her face as she realized what she's just said. She obviously tried to cover up by laughing quite nervously, obviously stomping on ron's foot seconds later, signaling to them to join her laughing. Soon it was just an awkward laugh fest with only a slight smirk curving at the edge of my lips.

"Maybe you're right Hermione, maybe I will be sorted into Slytherin, I hear they're common rooms have stuffed snakes and real human skulls in them". Ron bursts out in a fit of genuine laughter followed by Harry and Hermione.

"Glad to know I'm not the only one with a sick sense if humor" I said to no one in particular with satisfaction on my face.

We recovered from laughing and soon the cabin was silent with only the sounds of pouring rain outside filling the room,

"Uhmm where did you say you were from Sera?" Harry said, obviously uncomfortable with the sudden awkward vibe in the cabin. I was a little shocked but quickly regained my calm expression so they wouldn't be suspicious

"Well I guess you could say I lived all around, i moved quite a lot as a kid, so i never really settled anywhere to call home...... until now i guess?"
