CHAPTER 2 ~ COOL KIDS BY ECHOSMITH

I was new. I had no sense of what was popular or what wasn't popular. By default, I was already the most popular guy in the school, Gwen's social status made us the power couple of the school, exchanging adorable little kisses in the hallways and hugging before each class. Everyone wanted to be us.

My mom drove me to school, I hadn't bought a new car yet, and was hoping to get one for my birthday. This sounded like a cheesy high school movie, the mom drove the new kid to school and the new kid meets a clique and becomes best friends with them. I'm turning into Mean Girls. I am Cady Heron.

I moved to Illinois from California. I wasn't ready for any of this, but here we are, entering a new school. (A/N: this sounds like rambling sorry)

"Thanks mom," I tell my mom as I get out of the car.

"Have fun, Liam!" She replies with a huge smile. I roll my eyes and laugh in good humor.

"Like I'm going to have fun. Yeah, right." My mom laughs before driving off to her job. I let out a huge sigh. The school was so much bigger than my previous school and obviously more new. It was huge and there was a sleek, modern feel to the building, with lots of windows and natural light coming into the building. It was the first day of school, everyone was reuniting with old friends, names were being called out as friends ran to chase others and couples were kissing like they hadn't seen each other in years. I miss Gwen. I open up my phone, pretending to be busy as I start texting her.

Liam : Hey G! Literally I don't know anyone. Help me! I miss you xoxo

I got a reply seconds later.

Gwen : Miss you too! School is so boring without you, everyone who doesn't know anything is asking me where you are and our squad and I all miss you!

Liam : Gwennn what should I do? I'm the new kid!
Gwen : Listen to our playlist we made in summer and do your thing!

Liam : cx okay see you g xoxo

Gwen : bye liaMMmMmmMm xoxox i love you todayyy

Liam : I love you too!

I go into my iTunes and sure enough, the playlist was there, ready for me to hit shuffle and start listening. I put in the audio jack, putting in one earbud into my right ear, leaving the other one hanging out as I press shuffle. Sure enough, I get Gwen's favorite song, The Run And Go. I start humming along to the lyrics as the song starts.

A huge clique has formed in front of the school. I slowly walk past them, inspecting every person there.

Everyone there is a different age, there's a couple of people that look my age, while others are obviously a lot younger than I am. The youngest was an Asian kid, probably skipped a grade or something. He was obviously the youngest, sporting a dark blue hoodie and glasses. Two girls were amidst that whole group, one being part of the older ones wearing a black and yellow flannel around her waist and was sporting an Amity Affliction t-shirt. The other girl had a blue owl hat and long brown hair. She looked a little bit older than I was. Her age wasn't exactly the easiest to guess, but I assumed she was a younger one.

(A/N: and everyone's favorite time of the story, guessing the characters. guess who! btw all the character's ages are pushed back 3 years for example H is 20 rn so he's 17 and a junior (11th grade) in the story sound good okay sounds good feels good i might've messed up the years though so i have no clue)

Several kids looked to be my age. There was a guy with rectangular glasses wearing a blue shirt and had braces on. He had brown hair and blue eyes. (A/N: i tried to figure out his eye color it looks blue from pax prime 2014 pictures) Another kid had brown hair as well, and looked similar to the other kid, but didn't have braces and sported a purple sweater. One was tall, no glasses or anything and was pretty handsome. He had a purple t-shirt on and had a great smile.
