A Paw at a Time

Chapter 5

I awoke to peace and quiet. I stepped through multiple balls of fur to get to some room for myself. I stretched my legs out and let out a big yawn. I got a sip of the cold water and went to the door. I say quietly and stared out to the world beyond our temporary home. I smelled other dogs, people, cats, and food.
The human who treated me yesterday quietly opened the door and took me out. She petted me and told me I was a good dog. She took me to an area that had green things on the floor and the "ceiling" was blue. She set me down and I sniffed the green spikes and barked at them. I rolled in them and ran in them. She laughed as a I experienced my first time outside.
Soon, my brothers, sisters, and mom joined me.
After experiencing what I soon learned was grass we all went back into our kennel. The nice lady came by and fed us. After our dinner my brothers and I tumbled around and play fought, while my sisters and mom laid on the fuzzy blankets. After our "fight" my brothers and I joined the rest of our family. Our mom gave us goodnight kisses and we snuggled together.
I dozed off but was awaken with a loud 'bang' outside our kennel. I jumped up so I didn't startle my siblings and mom and approached the kennel gate. I saw a person in all black holding the person at the front and pointing a black object at them. The mysterious person yelled at the old women to give him all her money. I sensed fear pouring off the women. I barked and barked and soon the burglar froze when sirens went off.
Soon more people ran in and put metal cuffs on his hands. The nice lady who I found out is named "Annie" comforted the old lady at the front desk. They talked quietly and then Annie approached me beaming. She took me and out praised me and gave me treats.she took me to a cold metal table and gave me treats.
"You saved her bud, you deserve a name." She paused thinking. "You saved our money so your name is Cash!! She said excitedly. I caught onto the mood the happy mood and wagged my tail and gave out an excited bark. She laughed and praised me some more. I then returned to my kennel exhausted.
  I explained to my confused family about where I was and what was going on. I excitedly told them about my new name Annie gave me. My family gave my happy congratulations. We all said goodnight once again and I fell asleep with thoughts of being a true hero and my new name.
