Helena stood out at the waterfront, her green eyes circled with the motion of the waves as if there really was an ocean in them.  Her gaze held so still, so sharp, so lethal.  Her eyebrows scrunched up and the blonde strands of her hair wisped violently as she concentrated, unnoticeable of what she was creating.

A thunder storm.

Helena's chiffon shirts tugged at her while the wind picked up her shoelaces and undid them.  But Helena still wouldn't realize what she was doing, she was too focused on her SAT results.  She had been so mad that dark clouds had began to gather over San Francisco.

A drop of rain landed on her shoulder beckoning for her to go inside. Her eyes looked up at what had been sunshine and rainbows about five minutes ago and she'd sworn she had seen the sun and the butterflies happily fly past.

"Mom! I'm home!" Helena struggled to pull her thigh high Roman sandals off of her feet, stumbling through the front door.

Elaine, who was five foot four and had almond colored hair gracefully slid down the stairs and threw her arms out at her adopted daughter, "There you are!" She stood back with booth her hands on Helena's shoulders as if she was marveling at her ridiculously gorgeous face, "How was school? Your exam?"

By the time her mother had said 'exam', she groaned in annoyance and frustration before she bursted into a rant, "I couldn't believe I just passed! I'm never like this, I usually top everyone at school!"

Elaine gave Helena a sympathetic look and patted her soothingly on the back, "There, there, there's always next time. You've been studying yourself too hard and your dad and I think you just need some you time, take a rest Helena."

Helena never quite understood the meaning of relaxing or holiday or vacation even, but she sighed and nodded in agreement not wanting her Mom to worry too much about her, "I'll be upstairs if you need me." She ran up the staircase as she heard her mom yell out something that sounded like 'Don't study! Just relax!'

Shutting her bedroom door Helena pulled a thick mythology book that sat on one of the many shelves in her mini library.

'Greek mythology in difference to Roman mythology'

She quickly flipped past the extra pages in the front of the book and plopped down on her bed. Adjusting her pillow underneath her she noticed a gleaming locket.

The locket itself was from her biological mother, whoever she was. The locket shone a bright silver, carved with flowers and vines. Inside the locket held a scrunched up piece of paper, one that looked as if it had been torn out of a book. The words on the paper never faded but they were impossible to read; like some type of forgotten language. Latin maybe.

Helena picked up the delicate piece of jewelry, it's chain twinkled with the sound of silver against silver. She flipped the locket around to find anything that could possibly give her a clue about her mother. She had missed her mother even if she didn't know who she was.

Her eyes focused hard on the object, if she were to have stared any harder, she would have stared holes right through it.

The storm outside didn't subside -it only got worse. Thunder clapped and lightning bolted across the sky as Helena focused more and more. She suddenly became frustrated at how she wasn't able to find anything.  Agitated, she threw her hands in her hair and yelled in frustration, dropping the locket on her rug.
