You ever think that sometimes life passed you by, that when that time comes and it's finally here. You think about not what you had gained but what you had lost. That was me thinking about all the times I could have and should have, but didn't. As I sat there looking out my window, the reflections in the sun danced off the bright red cherry mustang outside. I knew who it had belonged to. I knew he was definitely just a bit out of my range. But I couldn't stop what I so dearly wanted. Couldn't think or eat, the images were painted in my mind. It was just like yesterday. When it all came down to be apparent that what I had and what I didn't have was about to change.
I pulled my hair out of the way as I parked in the driveway. It was rainy and my children and I had just moved into our new place. The kids for the most part seemed happy. But I, I was lost. I had been separated from my husband of fifteen years. He and I went our separate ways and for whatever reason we lost ourselves. It was a pained decision we had made. My youngest Sarah, she was so smart. A little girl of seven, with bright green eyes and blonde hair. She was my girl. I also had a son the age of 13 and an older daughter who was 16, Tyler and Megan.
Megan had went to open the door while Tyler and Sarah grabbed what they could out of the car. As I locked up the car, I grabbed two bags out of the car. The walk way was wet from this morning's rain. Walking up the walkway, a bag began to slip and i tried to catch it. But the bag fell and so did I. My vision went fuzzy and when I heard his voice. I thought I had died and went to heaven.
"Oh god, are you all right?" Will looked concerned.
I was speechless. His eyes, his lips.... I couldn't speak. I heard the children surround me asking me things. But I was numb. His strong arms held me as he picked me up from the ground.
I tried to reach for the bag, but my son got it. "Let's take you inside." Will said holding my waist as he held me.
I walked inside and he took me to the couch. I took a seat and held my head. "Thank you... the rain.. I slipped."
"I seen you fall. I'm from next door. My name is William Matthews." He smiled with such a grin.
"Val Hayward. My children and I just moved in. We're new to the neighborhood." I touched my head.
"You really shouldn't wear heels in the rain." He touched my ankle removing my shoe.
He caressed my ankle and I sighed. Tyler came in. "Megan is putting the food away. Are you okay, Mom?"
"Yeah I am fine. I think I might have bruised my head."
"Here let me see. Tell me where?" Will felt my head where i showed him. He touched it.
"Owww." The pain hurt.
"It's swollen. I think i should stay just to make sure you're all right. I'm alone, was watching over my grandma, but she's in the hospital so I am taking care of her cats. Do you have a medical kit or some alcohol and cotton balls." Will parted my hair.
"Tyler, can you go get the supplies he needs." I looked at Tyler.
"Sure mom." Tyler went to go get things.
"Is anything else wrong?" Will inspected. He looked at my knees, my hands and he seen that look I gave him.
He gave a wide smile knowing easily just how much I wanted affection. There was lust in my eyes and I knew he could feel it. I looked at him intently, wanting so much to feel his touch.
"You know they say a woman's desire lies in the eyes and right now. I can read everything you're telling me." His lips curved.
Val blushed she didn't mean for things to get like this with her stares of desire. Tyler laid the alcohol and cotton balls on the table. "This all you need?"
