Chapter 1

Special Agent Dana Scully made her way into the FBI Headquarters and down to the basement where her partner’s office was located. As she stepped into the elevator a few of the newer agents inched away, she sighed knowing that this was the price for working on the X Files with “Spooky Mulder.”

“Spooky Mulder” or Special Agent Fox Mulder used to be one of the FBI’s best agents, but threw all his success away when he stumbled across what are known as “The X-Files.” The X-Files are the FBI’s unsolved cases; most contain things that would only make sense explained in a paranormal or supernatural way.

Working on these cases and becoming obsessed with extraterrestrials earned Agent Mulder the nickname “Spooky Mulder,” something that didn’t necessarily bother him. He enjoyed his work, and didn’t care what anyone else in the bureau thought about him.

Scully walked into the cramped office to find Mulder sitting at his desk going through pictures and old newspaper articles. “New case?” Scully said taking her coat off and hanging it on the rack by the door. She went over to see what Mulder was looking at.

            “Not exactly new,” Mulder said.

Scully was looking over his shoulder and noticed most of the articles and pictures were similar and they had all happened in the same year. “What is this?” she asked her partner, “It seems like an old homicide case. Why are you interested in this?”

“Back in ’56 a young girl, about 16, named Lorraine Thompson disappeared. A few weeks after her disappearance, her body was found in a nearby park, completely drained of blood. Nothing unusual was found about the body except for two small puncture wounds on the neck.”

Scully still had a puzzled look on her face, what about this case attracted Mulder’s attention? “I don’t understand why this attracted you Mulder,” she said.

“Because Scully, the killer had about twenty victims that year. The only links between their deaths were that all the girls had red hair. I did some research on this case and found a similar one that consisted of ten homicides in London in 1847.

“All the girls that were killed were redheads, and they were also found with their bodies drained completely of their blood. Recently a young girl, 15 years old, named Scarlett Johnson was kidnapped. She’s also a red head.

“The police have a witness of some sort that says they saw her dead body in an alley by a strip club, but when the police went to investigate the area the body was nowhere to be found. I think the killer did a sloppy job.”

“What are you suggesting Mulder?” Scully asked.

“I’m suggesting a vampire attack Scully. I mean think about it-two, small, round puncture wounds on the neck, bodies completely drained of blood.”

“What if this new killer is just a copy-cat? Heard about the homicide case in London, and decided to attempt it,” Scully said skeptically, not wanting to believe in Mulder’s theory.

“After everything we’ve seen, you still question me?” Mulder asked looking at her.

“I question your theories Mulder, not you.”

“Anyways, recently there have been two deaths-murders to be exact. There was a young girl, 16, whose name was Scarlett Johnson-” Mulder was cut off by his partner.

“I’m guessing that she had red hair?” Scully asked, now sounding a bit more intrigued than before. “And her body was found in the same condition? Blood drained?”

“You got it! The second death was the murder of Kendall Schmidt, a member of the boy band Big Time Rush.”

“That kid’s TV show?” Scully asked.

Mulder nodded and continued, “His body was found the same way. We’re flying to L.A. this afternoon Scully, go home and pack your bags. We’re heading west.”
