Family

Today's the day we are going to be married, I was happy as hell, finally I got to marry my best friend, my partner in crime, and the love of my life. Melissa and our daughter were at my parents house getting ready, I was with Seth and Dean at our house. I stood looking in the mirror, wishing that today could go a little faster and she would be my wife already. Dean and Seth came into the room, "Hey, this just came for you." I looked at the envelope, opening it I read

Dear Roman,
Thank you for saving my sister from this family. I know she loves you, more than she has ever loved anyone. I am sorry that I can't be there to watch your family with her grow, as I'm sure it has grown since I last saw you both. She is an incredible woman, with an incredible heart. With my dying breath, I am sorry that I took your daughter from you. I realize now, you and her could've protected your daughter better then I ever could. I tried to do for your daughter what I couldn't do for Melissa. My father as I'm sure you have learned is not the best man. He was broken when our older sister Abigail died, she was his pride and joy who would follow his exact command, she was as vicious and cruel as him. Melissa never knew her, she was only an infant when Abigail died. Abigail had told our father that Melissa would never amount to anything, and would always be a disappointment to him. But she was never a disappointment to me. I just wish I would've realized this sooner that she was greater than all of us. Please do one thing for me, and love her with all of your heart, she deserves nothing less.

I sat there for a few moments, thinking over Brays words, quietly I said, "Always I will."

As I stood at the front of the church, I couldn't get Brays words of thanks out of my head, I knew I had to show her the letter, but I would do that when we were alone tonight. As I saw Courtnee coming down the aisle our daughter walking in front of her, my jaw dropped when I saw my Babygirl walking to me, her little legs, wobbling. She grinned at me, letting go of Courtnees hands, walking to me, her arms outstretched. I scooped her up hugging her tightly. Looking past her, I saw Melissa standing there, Braun, Luke and Erick surrounding her. Her smile lighting up when she saw Hope in my arms. Luke, Erick and Braun smiled as well, Braun whispered something to Melissa which caused her to laugh. As they walked forward, I couldn't tear my eyes away from her. She looked absolutely gorgeous. When she got to me, her hand slid into mine, her other touching our daughters cheek. The look that passed between them, made my heart swell with love for them. As the ceremony started, I looked down at her, seeing the smile on her face. We cradled Hope between us, as the pastor said, "Now I pronounce you man and wife, you may kiss your bride." I could see her shiver in anticipation, as our lips touched, Hopes giggling causing us to break the moment. "What's so funny, little girl?" I asked.
"Dada,"she said, we looked at each other, our eyes widening. Melissa looked at me, tears on her face. I leaned down and pressed my forehead to hers, our Babygirl pressed in between us, "I love you both so much," she said.
As we walked back up the aisle, I knew this was where I needed to be and this is my family, and they are my home.
