The ARMED and the DANGEROUS

Chapter 4

Chapter four.

"Where even are we?" Olivia asks

I shrug at her because honestly I have no sweet clue.

Once we left the gas station we just drove through town and onto the highway- where we still are.

"I don't know" I say dully

Olivia doesn't respond just sits quietly in the passenger seat twirling her gun around.

"What are doing?" I ask her

She looks up "I don't know, something to pass time" she mumbles.

"Why are you so down in the dumps?"

"I don't know!" She snaps at me.

Quickly look at her and widen my eyes, then look back at the road.

"I just, this whole zombie apocalypse stuff is so depressing"

"Why are you calling it an apocalypse"

"Hannah, there's zombies everywhere!"

"I know!" I shoot back.

"Geesh, don't have to be a bitch about it-" "can you not?!" Yell back at her.

We drove on in silence

I pullover to the side of the road

"Why'd you stop?"

I point at the gas level meter

"Almost empty" I respond

I then open my door, not forgetting my gun.

Then getting out of the car and opening one of the back seat doors and getting out one of the gas tanks then pouring it into the gas tank.

I shut the door then go get back in the car.

"Ready to go?"'I ask Olivia

Only Olivia's not there

My stomach instantly jumps and turns into a huge knot

Olivia's gone

Where the fuck did that girl go?! I left her alone for maybe 6 minutes.

I check and see if her gun is still in her bag and praise The Lord she took it.

But where did she go?!

I'm answered after a couple minutes when a familiar scream rips through the air

"OLIVIA!" I screech back then sprint towards the noise of multiple gun shots

"Olivia! I'm coming stay there!!!" I yell.

When I reach her she's breathing hard and 3 dead zombies are laying around her.

"What the hell?!" I ask/yell at her

"I'm sorry! I- I heard weird noises in the woods when you were filling the tank so I went and found them, they turned out to be zombies" she says

After she takes a few hard breathes she says quietly

"One almost bit me"

I give her a serious look then out my hands in on her shoulders

"You weren't bitten right"

She nods quickly then I remove my hands

"Come one let's go" she nods and we run back to my car only to discover another zombie that looks up with a growl and starts stumbling its way over to us.

I shoot it without hesitation then we get in the car, slamming the doors then getting back onto the highway and driving down the lonely road.

After about 20 minutes of awkwardly silent driving I take one hand off the wheel of my car and turn on the radio, but turning it down a bit.

Olivia gives me a funny smile, that I return.

Once an actually good song comes on I sing quietly to myself

"With the lights out, it's less dangerous, here we are now, entertain us"

Olivia interrupts me

"Smells like teen spirit? Since when do you listen to Nirvana?"

I smile and laugh at her a bit "that's the only Nirvana song know!"

We both laugh

"Well, at least it's not awkwardly quiet anymore" I say with a sigh

"Yeah, anything to distract from this big depression"

I nod in agreement with Olivia.

This whole zombie stuff is putting a damper on everything.

It's basically ruined everyone's life

We watched our best friend get eaten alive

My father became a zombie

I killed my mother

There's a high chance both of our families are those flesh eating monsters.

Could anything get worse?

"HANNAH!" Olivia screeches

I jump a bit when she screeches my name

"WHAT?!" I yell back

"HANNAH LOOK OUT!" She screeches again, but this time frantically pointing at the road.

And this time I see what she's freaking out about,

But at the wrong time

And everything happens in a blur

About 5 zombies are coming towards the car

I panic

It's a one lane highway and jumping out and crossing over the metal bars separating the roads is out of the question.

About 5 seconds till we meet the zombies

Olivia is panicking

My stomach twists in a knot

I grip the steering wheel

"Hannah what are you doing?!"

I swerve the car to the left, avoiding the zombies

The last things I hear are the screams of Olivia and I as the car hits

And flips over the railing separating the road.

once my head smashes against the window everything goes dark.

SO SO SO SORRY THIS TOOK FOREVER!

I got writers block and was camping where there wasn't wifi

Also this chapter was a little on the short side... Sorry about that

CLIFFHANGER!!!!!!! Haha hope that made up for the wait

But anyways I'll try and update quicker, and I MIGHT be starting another story and uploading it here. I won't release the title though once I've got the first chapter written.
