When I got back into the living room, Chandler and Jacklynn were on opposite sides of the living area, both staring at a wall.
I gave them an odd look. "So I see you both made nice, huh?"
Jacklynn drew her gaze towards me. "Did you get the freshener?"
"Um...yeah. Here."
The raven haired girl grabbed the can and sprayed waterfall mist and exotic jungle everywhere and lastly caught the area near Chandler with an extra puff. He waved the crap away and glared at my friend.
I raise an eyebrow at her. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah." She sniffed the air and frowned. "I just hate that wet dog smell, y'know?" She attacked the air with the spray again then sniffed once more and shrugged. "Eh, it's still here but I may be able to live
with it now."
I huffed. "Where the hell are you getting wet dog smells from? I can't smell anything remotely close to that. All I smell are your flowers and herbs."
"Well it's here." She looked over at Chandler. "And it stinks."
Chandler frowned and cuffed his ear as if he were listening for something. "I'm sorry, did you say something? I couldn't hear you over all that cackling," he scoffed.
Jacklynn glared. "Look here you-"
"OKAY! Let's just give it a rest people. I don't even want to know what you two are bickering about. Where's Ricky?"
Jacklynn shrugged. "Beats me. I think she went for a run. Don't know. Don't care. I'll be in my room." She got up and walked across the living area to the door that lead to her room.
I frowned while giving Chandler a sheepish I'm-so-sorry-for-her-behavior smile. "Sorry about that. I have no idea what that was about. She usually doesn't act like that. What happened?"
Chandler shrugged. "She was kind of uneasy with me once we hit the porch steps."
I stared at the door my friend just disappeared into. "Hmm," I went with a skeptical look but shrugged and grinned at the redhead before me. "Ready to see the rest of the place?"
He nodded. "Of course."
I showed him around the obvious first floor that consisted of a kitchen/dining area, living area, bathroom, and Jacklynn's bedroom. All that was upstairs was Ricky's room, the bathroom, and my room.
"And this is where the magic happens," I said as I showcased my room. "By magic I mean the work and studying I put into getting straight A's."
He chuckled and looked around. "You're a complete and utter dork."
"Told ya. That's world class for ya." My room WAS dorky. Stars wars, lord of the rings, harry potter, Marvel and star trek posters were posted everywhere on my walls. I had a shelf specifically for my comics that ranged from...well...everything. The rest of the bookcase was filled with a heaping load of books. I had two bins under my bed: one with more comics, the other with a few more books and plenty of movies. I had two swords crossing each other mantled onto my wall above my desk where WWE action figures rested. In one corner I had mannequin wearing a wonder woman costume that I wore to last year's convention. More action figures ladled my dresser. Pictures rimmed my mirror. And my bedding was all Wolverine with matching bedside lamps, clock and a chair.
Yup. Complete and utter dork.
"I love it," he said then sat in the Wolverine chair.
I plopped down on my bed. "Thanks. Me too."
"You look nothing like one, a dork I mean."
"Well what does a dork look like?"
"You know what I mean," he went. "The image you presented at the club last night. You looked more like a pretty party girl."
I snorted. "Wait til' ya meet Ricky. I was nothing like a pretty party girl compared to her."
He grinned. "Really?"
I nodded. "And there's nothing wrong with being a pretty dork."
"Nothing at all. I think it's quite attractive when a girl is a geek and not just beauty and long legs."
"Maybe that's what drew you towards me."
He sighed. "Believe me you have no idea."
