I wake the morning after break and smile to myself. School. My friends and I can go back to normal. Well, for the most part. Greggor is still recovering.
"Mar, we're going to be late." Holland yells. My eyes widen as I check the clock, he's not lying. I quickly change into my outfit and fix my hair. I race downstairs and grab my flats from the closet grabbing my white sweater as I close the door. I quickly eat and head up to brush my teeth. "Marisa Jane Keaton, come on let's move."
"I'm here," I gasp. Holland rolls his eyes and heads out to his favorite car, his jaguar. I climb in the passenger seat and put my things in the back seat.
"Over sleep?"
"Sadly I just woke up and I'm more awake than you." I retort.
"Let's just go." He grumbles with a yawn
"Just waiting on you." I tell him as I turn on K-love
After a silent ride, with only the radio filling the silence we make it to the school. He parks at the front where his parking spot is. The Avenue's ambush us.
"Wanna give us your real name?" Oliver and company stand in front of us
"Back off." Holland says rolling his eyes and grabbing his books.
"Not till we get your sister's real name." One of the boys says.
"And don't try to tick us again."
"Wouldn't dream of it." I tell them sarcastically.
"But you would do it."
"My name is Marisa." I tell them as I brush past them. "Not that you'll ever need to talk to me again."
"I don't know, we've found plenty in the past few days."
"Holl, let's go."
"Coming." He says locking the car and following me inside.
"Mar!" Jasmine, Kristi, Luci, and Isadora all flock to my sides as I walk into the school. "How is everything."
"You act as if I didn't just see you yesterday." I tell them as we head to my locker. All the other kids make a path for us the only exception being the Avenues, of course, and they do the exact opposite and get in our way.
"How's Luke?" One of the Avenue girls asks with an over dramatized fake pout. "Is he dead?"
"That's enough." Ivan says coming up to us. He shoots me a soft smile and wraps his arm around my waist after taking my books from me.
"He is dead. Because one of your guys shot him." I tell her walking past her.
"You okay Mar," Ivan asks quietly as he walks with me to first period. I give him a soft smile and nod.
"What would I do without you?" I ask him softly as we both sit down in the back of our classroom.
"You'd be just fine." He assures me kissing my head. "I think I stop you from fighting your own battles. If I actually let you, you might discover how brave and sharp you are."
"You're not stopping me. Nothing is. I just don't like confrontations. Especially since that's the reason that Luke died. Those Avenues get a thrill from a fight, and you boys are crazy enough to oppose them." I tell him, "If this stupid feud would end this wouldn't be a problem."
"Attention class. I have the daily announcements." Mr. Jakes says he then proceeds to drone through the announcements.
"Mr. Jakes," The intercom lady asks.
Yes." He responds.
"Would you send Miss Marisa Keaton to Mr. Halifax's office?"
"Right away."
