How to write a good/better story + tips

Cliches to hell

I can not believe how many bloody cliches there are! I get it's hard to make a story original, but by fucking god.... *growls*

Okay, i'm calm again.

So, i was just reading some stories, and now i need to stress the point that cliches are terrible, terrible thing, and should never be written in a story.

Ever.

I've arranged a list below of all the cliche's i can think of, if you know any other i havn't added, please leave a comment.

Also, please not that not every one of these are always in stories, and that there are exceptions where it's not completely cliche, or has a twist, and yes, some of these things are necessary, but the way people do them are usually the same.

General cliches (from any genre)
-Parents are dead, or left them. (usually from car crash, cancer, murdered. Also usually happens at a young age.)
-They have a depressing life and everything is so shitty. (bullying, abuse, alcoholic parent/guardian)
-They are always ether aggressive, or submissive (they either want to fight everyone and are really snarky, or can't form words to say hello)
-Despite everything being wrong in there life, they are always happy. (Really?)
-Hot bully realizes he's bad and falls in love with main chick.
-Main girl gets hurt and bad boy realizes he actually loves her (this is 90% most of the time cliches, but there are exceptions.)
-Somehow, even though main girl is only 16-18, she still lives on her own. (not really cliche, but very annoying.)
-They either work a million jobs and/or never show up for the actual job they do have.
-They always have a fucking love triangle! (this is okay sometimes. But not for every fucking story!)
-Twins or sibling of a character who is specifically said to be an only child showing up. (Or they turn out to be adopted.)
-Everyone instantly loves main character despite meeting her only a minute ago.
-Protagonist is a good fighter even though she/he has never had any training. (and usually kicks the bad guys ass)
-Mute protagonist can suddenly talk without any explanation (offend in a very big, important scene.)

Werewolf stories.
-Their mate is an Alpha. (BULL FUCKING SHIT THEY ARE! WHY?)
-There are such things as mates/soul mates. (I shall kill someone now.)
-Main chick was used in her last pack and ran away. (and pack will try to hunt her down and kill her.)
-Their mate is always in 'the strongest pack in America'. (sigh)
-The mate is always a player.
-Main chick is bullied really bad.
-Mate rejects the main chick (I THOUGHT THEY WERE FUCKING SOUL MATES AND CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT EACH OTHER!!! IDIOTS!)
-Main chick starts out submissive, but gets really aggressive and kick ass later.
-Main chick fights with her mate alpha, tooth and nail. (This would really get someone killed.)
-They are either a white wold, a red one, or black one. (what happened to grey, brown, tan....?)
-Mate is always a huge, black wolf. (Again, what happened to diversity?)
-They always are actual wolves then half-human-half-wolf. (i actually like the wolf thing better, but it's still a cliche.

Vampire stories.
- Protagonist is a slave. (blood slave or sex slave. sometimes both. Otherwise their a maid)
- She's kidnapped/sold/baught or hired.
-The vampire is really evil but then developes feelings for her.
-The hot guy will always be a pure blood, or have a realy high status (such as a stupid king/prince/lord...)
-They always become a vampire in the end.
-Some bad guy always wants to kill them.
-Protagonist has some awesome powers, such as can control water/fire despite being a human.
- She's not human at all. (mostly werewolf, werecat or other being.)
- Again, fights against the vampire despite the fact he can rip her head off.
- The bites always feels good, or the vamp can decides how good/bad they feel
-At the end, she always turned into a vamp

Horror
-Good chance of a hospital/creepy house/old house/jail ect.
-Not-really-scary scary scenes.
-Too many ghosts
-Lots of bloody water, blood oozing from the roof and walls, whispers in the dark.
-Flash lights.
-Lack of story line
-Insane murders
-Not-so gruesome murder scenes.
-Dark rooms, attics, basement, kitchens and bedrooms.
-Chains, ropes and handcuffs.
-Main chick/dude watch friends die horribly.
-Teeth and hair pulling, eye gouging.
-Knives, swords, glass, guns.
-Ghosts, vampires, poltergeists, demons,
-Protagonist lives despite everyone else dying. (i mean really?)

Romance
-Chocolates and roses.
-Break up scenes after the guy cheats. (because females never do, it seems.)
-Too many restaurant/house party/beach/lake side dates.
-Too many 'phone swaps', 'my bully loves me', 'i go to an all boys school but i'm secretly a girl' stories.
-Too many big fights about small matters.
-They have sex somewhere at the start of the story (for people who actually write that stuff.)
-There's usually a good chance of someone getting pregnant (and hopefully it's not the guy, although i've read about it happening. :( )
-The guys always a player (yet never has an STI's, STD's or otherwise.)
-They break up and then someone nearly dies (car crash, attempt at suicide, freak shoot out, fire, drowning)
-So many people actually get back together.
-The guy never has a really annoying fault (like always wearing soaks to bed, or forgetting to shower after sport.)
-Many times the main chick is hired as a maid, personal slave, baby-sitter (despite being younger).

Fan-fic's

-Harry Potter
-Always a love triangle.
-Always friends with the trio, Fred and Gorge, Luna...ect
-Comes from durmstrang(?), despite being female.
-Loves to prank people.
-Is like Nymphadora (a metophorpasis(?)) with the hair changing colour thing.
-Always calls Umbridge toad face, and Pansy pug-face.
-Always in Slytherin or Gryfindor.
-Is always smart and awesome at magic, yet thinks she's ditzy and stupid.
-Can fly on a broom very well, and usually makes it onto quidich teams or can't fly on a broom to save herself.
- Protagonist always makes it into the goblet of fire thingy.
-She figures out the golden egg thing, and always goes with harry to the graveyard. (and is never freakin killed!)
-Main character is always too inter-weaved with the original story plot (it's a fan fic, not a remake.)
-She's also 'the girl who lived.'
-She's forced to become a death eater.

-Twilight
-More love triangles.
-Always werewold, vampire or some weird combination of the two (i freaking hate hybrids...)
-Is Jacobs mate despite him already having one (forgivable if breaking dawn wasn't out then.)
-They are a werewolf with wings. (which is bullshit on so many levels)
-They have an awesome power the vultory wants.
-They have awesome powers, but get their ass handed to them almost everyday.
-Brother/sister of one or some of the Collins/Wolves.

-Youtuber stories
-There always 'novel; stories, but never say it in the genre thing, so you can't find proper stories (because people are dicks.)
-Protagonist is a youtuber too. (singer, gamer, blogger ect)
-They live next door to youtuber.
-Youtuber is supernatural being. (I'm hating life right now.)
-Youtuber lets main chick play games with him, and introduces her to the internet just so everyone can call her a slut.
-Something awful always happens. (he cheats on her, mafia want to kill her, ex wants to bash them...)
-Youtuber always breaks up with previous girlfreind.( Such as pewds and Maritza(?). I get it's necessary, but guys, they're taken. Just accept that.)
-Usually another youtubers sister/cousin/bff...

1d, Jb, 5sos, bvb...
-Always goes on tour with them.
-The person never actually records music, yet somehow always managers to write songs for the main chick.
-Always back up sings/journalists/singers.
-Baby Daddies (I. Will. Murder. the. AUTHOR!!!!)
-Sex scenes. (and not the good kind either)
-There's a good chance there's an abusive/crazy/bitchy ex.

As you can see some have less dot points, which is purely because i don't read those stories, or just can't think of anything. If you feel i've left anything out, please leave a comment, even if you just wish to argue with me over a point.

I don't mean to offend anyone, so if you see somethings here that you write about, i apologize, (unless you write babydady stuff, than arguing is pointless because i hate them... :) )
