Dialogue and actions are some of the main things in a story. Theirs is more dialogue in a story then there is the word and. Trust me, there are a lot of and’s in a story.

Dialogue is what people say, for those who don’t know.

And actions, is what people are doing. If you have one without the other, the story is empty.

Example (just dialogue):

“I love your hair”

“Thanks”

“It’s so soft!”

….yeah, okay.

Example (just action)”

Tess picked up a strand of Sophia’s hair.

Sophia blushes and looks down as heat creeps to her cheeks.

Tess laughs, tugging another strand and running her fingers over it.

Example (together):

“I love your hair” Tess picks up a strand of Sophia’s hair.

Sophia blushes and looks down as heat creeps up her cheeks. “Thanks”

“It’s so soft!” Tess laughs, tugging another strand and running her fingers over it.

I probably should have added ‘said’ and ‘exclaimed’, but it doesn’t matter.
