『 Timeline 2 』

(name) trudged down the stairs, trying their best to make their eyes stay open. They'd been telling Papyrus countless bedtime stories and the great skelly was too hyped to actually go to sleep. That wasn't normal. Papyrus normally falls asleep right after the first story is finished.. sometimes even before they're even finished.

"Maybe he's going through something.." (name) knew that deep down, behind those smiles, something different and far from joy existed. Papyrus was just an expert in hiding it.

"H-HUMAN?" (name) almost dropped their hot choco in surprise.

"Papyrus? Why are you already up? You've been sleeping for no more than an hour. You should go back to sl—"

"I HAD A.. A B-BAD DREAM.." They immediately left their drink and escorted Papyrus back to his room. "I.. IT'S A BIT EMBARRASSING BUT.. I.. I'M SCARED." He looked like he was in the verge of crying.

(name) hugged him without hesitation. Papyrus' cries were muffled in their shoulder. "Sssh.. It's okay. We.. we all get them.. sometimes." They remembered their nightmares. Those were things that were too scary to even think about. (name) was already crying before they knew it.

"HUMAN. YOU'RE C-CRYING?"
"...Yes. I.. uh.. don't want you to cry alone you know."

They took a deep breath, "Always keep in mind that I will always be here for you." He was so touched, even his smile cannot hide it.

"YOU TRULY ARE THE GREATEST HUMAN I HAVE EVER MET. I AM SO PROUD OF BEING YOUR FRIEND." He hugged (name) with all the love he has.

They smiled, "I'll make the tastiest breakfast for us tomorrow. Now, you should go sleep so you'd have enough energy to endure the great taste of my great cooking." They leaned forward, raised their body a bit so they could reach the tall skeleon's forehead, then kissed him goodnight.

Papyrus blushed, ".. UM.. WILL YOU LEAVE ME?"

"No Paps. I'll miss your great presence if I do and nobody wants that." They said, emphasizing nobody. This made Papyrus chuckle.

"GOODNIGHT, (NAME)." He bumped his teeth on their forehead lightly. They smiled upon hearing Papyrus say their name. It's been a long time since the first and it's really heartwarming to hear him say that again.

"Goodnight Papy." (name) slowly drifted to peaceful oblivion in Papyrus' embrace.

Meanwhile..

"it's a beautiful night.." A short skeleton approached an echo flower.

"why.." His legs weakened and his knees fell to the cold ground. Tears soon fell in front of the seemingly sad flower.

The skeleton weeped silently, "i'm scared too."
