Next day
When I woke up this morning I noticed I wasn't in my tree; I was in a dungeon room. I looked around and saw a weapons, shields, but no armor. I sighed then got out of bed. I looked down and saw my new dress was gone and replaced by my tattered dress. "Good luck." Three beats. My heart missed three beats. I looked around to see Rasmus there.
"Thanks," I smiled. We hugged each other and he kissed my lips. It was so sweet I never wanted to end. The kiss became deeper and more intense. I've never felt so many butterflies in my stomach.
"Ahem," We pulled away from each other and saw my dad waiting patiently. "I don't think now would be a good time for a make out session." We blushed and Rasmus walked away quickly.
"Were's my armor?" I looked around.
"You don't need it, you've just have to try to live." I paled then put the quiver on my back and sheathed the sword. "You're going to do fine child, just don't die." With that he left.
I sighed and followed the tunnel out to the arena. I winced and looked around. It seemed liked the whole town was sitting above the arena. I paled when I saw the twelve gods there. Dad was smiling and giving me the thumbs up, but everyone else just stared at me. "Aldara! You are here for one reason and one reason only. To see if you fit as a god, solider, or slave." Zeus thundered.
I gulped down my fear and stood tall. I heard a few murmurs, but thanks to my wolf ears, I could at least hear what the gods said. "Hermes, you think she will be able to become something better than a slave? Ares questioned. "I mean, look at her! She doesn't even fit to be a soldier." I clenched my fist and growled softly. Hermes shot a look at him and started getting a worried look.
"First test, combat!" Zeus shouted.
A gate opened and I went pale. "Hey babe, kind of ironic isn't it?" I groaned. I could never beat Rasmus.
"Begin!"
Rasmus charged at me and I jumped into the air and kicked his back during a back flip. He fell and I landed on the ground. He chuckled and I unsheathed a dagger. "A dagger? Really?" He asked then shrugged. "Hey, its your loss." I brought his sword down and I quickly stopped him with the sword I was given.
His eyes widened and I gave a grin. "Mmm, my loss?" I used my dagger to slit his hand making him drop his sword. He groaned in pain and glared at me. "I've learned over the years." I grinned and tripped him.
He landed on his back with a grunt. "Couldn't you go easier?"
I threw the dagger at one of his hands, pinning it in the ground. He screamed in pain. "Sorry hon, but I don't want to stay a slave forever." I sheathed my sword and aimed an arrow at him. I shot it at his other hand. He yelled in pain. I looked up to the gods and saw that the majority of them were very impressed. Ares wasn't though. I know I'm crazy, but I need to prove to him I can do more. "Zeus! Obviously your son is in no more condition to fight, but I want to challenge somebody." Dad paled and Ares lifted an eyebrow.
"And who would you like to challenge?"
"Ares! God of war, I want to challenge you to show you that I am not no mere peasant demigod!" I shouted.
Everyone gasped and Ares stood up. "I'm not going to waste my time fighting you..." Before he could finish I shot an arrow at him tearing a whole in his cape. Dad went pale and I glared at him. "You shouldn't have done that." Next thing you know I'm pinned to the ground with a sword pressing to my neck and Ares standing there full of rage. I grunted and kicked him away from me. He staggered back and then glared at me. He charged me with his sword and I stood there. When his sword was an inch away from me, our swords clashed and we were so close to each other, our breath was warming our faces. "You foolish girl! You can't beat me, you think you're so clever aren't you?"
