Reminder: Welcoming the new interns today!

Marcel's slightly groggy state had him rereading the words, phrasing them slowly in his mind as he fought against the early morning's onslaught. He knew for sure he'd need at least two cups of coffee before he was back to his regular mediocre self.

He stared through the thin slits his eyes formed as the bright screen of his phone shined brightly in his hand. Eventually it registered in his mind that today was the day the company would be welcoming a new flood of interns. Well, not necessarily a flood since the company he worked for was very particular with who they have come work for them; intern or not. But as one of their lead marketing experts, Marcel did not have an issue with the company accepting a few interns here and there, especially since he was one of the lucky candidates who received the extra hand.

Carla, his boss, emailed everyone the day before a reminder of what today would entail. She instructed that those who would be receiving an intern to come in an hour earlier so we could be there to greet the new interns. It would explain why Marcel was still partially asleep when he sluggishly got ready for the day.

As he checked himself once moreover in his large mirror, he reminded himself to leave a note thanking Emerson – his personal assistant – for sparing him the trouble of organizing his life. Marcel had more than enough on his plate already, what with the company he works for planning to expand into other international countries besides Europe. It meant going back to the drawing board; dedicating hours and hours to developing a marketing strategy, then the tears when it doesn't pass testing.

Having Emerson around was more of a necessity than a nuisance; a true blessing in his eyes. He genuinely loved having Emerson around to the point he couldn't have been bothered to maintain a strict professional relationship with him and immediately addressed his liking to just being referred to as 'Marcel', and not 'Mr. Styles'. Along with Emerson were Marcel's team of marketers; a loyal, dedicated group of employees Marcel managed to the best of his abilities. A few of his team members once started as interns for the company, so he'd known some of them for quite some time.

Marcel arrived at the company building just in time, much to his surprise. Having missed his early commute, Marcel thought he was one for. Luckily, he caught the next train, and had time to grab himself a quick breakfast on the way. He settled in his office, a moderately-sized room on the 72nd floor of the building, designed beautifully with dark hardwood office furniture, marble flooring, and a wall to wall window which gave him a view of the city.

While eating breakfast, Marcel was interrupted by Emerson's arrival. Carrying his breakfast burrito with him, Marcel walked towards the door and opened it, mumbling a short 'g'morning' through a mouthful of egg whites while Emerson entered.

"Good morning to you too Marcel. How was the commute here?"

"Absolutely  fantastic." He sighed dramatically. "Barely made it in time; grabbed myself some breakfast as well."

"I hint a bit of sarcasm in your tone." Emerson chuckled. "Well, good news. I have your itinerary for the month, and your coffee." Emerson placed the plastic folder on his desk along with the coffee cup, which Marcel reached for first. "Vanilla latte with a shot of that caramel creamer?" He questioned, hoping his subtly masked his pure happiness.

Emerson nodded, "Yes, it's your usual. On to more important things, today you have no scheduled appointments, due to the internship program starting today, but Deborah from IT wanted me to remind you that at eight tonight they will be running system diagnostics for every computer in this department so a few servers may be down."
