- Post-wisdom teeth removal

Author: Me (2015)

Note: Ariana has just had her wisdom teeth removed and Harry's driving her home.

Tap, tap, tap, her fingernail went as it grazed the cool glass of the window in our shared Range Rover. The heat from her lips turned the surface hazy as she blew breaths of hot air onto the glass. Her caramel-coloured eyes softened as they adoringly stared at the greyish city that passed by us.

"How are you feeling my love?" I glanced at her reflection through the mirror, seeing her smile lazily next to me before nodding. "Yes."

I chuckled, addressing her drugged state as still there before turning back to face the street.

"This song is really good." She slurred as she turned herself around and leaned in close to the car radio. "Na, na, na, oh yeah, yeah, na." She giggled as she nodded along to the song.

I couldn't watch her then, but I imagined she had her eyes closed and a hazed smile on her face as she hummed along to the song. Her state lead her to butcher most of the lyrics, but she was happy doing as she pleased so I didn't mind at all.

She leaned back into her seat and raised her hands above her head. She sang beautifully, as one does when they're high on laughing gas, and swayed in her seat to the beat of the song. She knocked my sunglasses off my head and nearly injured herself too if she hadn't stopped abruptly when she noticed her hand had hit something hard.

"Oh no!" She frowned, cupping her mouth as she turned to me. "I'm sorry Harry, I didn't mean to." She mumbled.

"It's fine babe." I chuckled. "Accidents happen."

Her eyebrows started to raised and her eyes grew, clouding with tears as she whimpered. She blinked between the sunglasses in my lap, the red light in front of us, then me. It broke my heart to see her cry, but I knew it was just the gas emoting. Still I pulled her hands away from her face and laid a kiss on her trembling lips.

"Baby it's alright," I assured her, "it was an accident."

She sniffled and more tears dripped down her cheeks as she nodded, yet she couldn't seem to find her voice as she stared into my eyes with utter despair. I felt like the more I looked into her eyes, the more I drowned in their pool of sadness.

"Let's see that beautiful smile of yours" I grinned as I softly spoke to her.

She sniffled one last time and gave it her best shot. Her swollen cheeks looked even more adorable as she attempted to spread her lips into a smile. The cotton balls in her mouth made it hard for her to do much and the dried blood was a bit of a turn off, but she looked like an angel to me nonetheless.

I chuckled and kissed her one last time, just before the light turned green. She stopped crying eventually and settled into her seat. The music changed by then, but she still danced in her seat. The sunglasses that had fallen into my lap were now perched on the bridge of her nose as she moved along to the tune of the song, almost like she'd forgotten she was ever upset in the first place.
