Chapter 7: What's a "family,"?

**Third P.O.V.**

As Vail continued to run around all over Lucy's apartment, Gray and Erza began to whisper about how she was acting. Vail never did tell them about her hearing, though, but she continued to be excited, and ignored their conversation. Lucy was happy that she could help out with helping her find a home to stay in for right now. Natsu and Happy ended up falling asleep onto Lucy's bed, making Lucy annoyed. She screamed at them to get out of her room, making Vail startled; falling to the ground. The screaming made her cover her ears from how sensitive they are. Lucy went to go check on Vail, when she discovered that she was on the ground, acting like she was in pain.

Lucy quickly ran over to her without a second thought, "Oh my gosh! Are you okay?!?" She asked her with most sincere concern. She helped Vail stand up by grabbing her hand gently.

"Ye--Yeah. It's just, my ears are really sensitive to startling noises, and your scream scared me immensely." Vail responded, still in some pain.

Lucy and Vail started talking for a little while, almost an hour it seemed. Then, Gray and Erza realized that they had been gone for some time. They jumped up from Lucy's couch, and searched through all the rooms, not able to find them.

Erza growled, "Lucy's apartment isn't that big! Where are they?!?"

Gray responded back in anger, "Why did we not react sooner?!? Lucy could be hurt for all we know!"

To their surprise, Natsu heard what they said, and walked into the room.

They both were about to say something, but Natsu interrupted before they could, "Can you both just lay off of her? Seriously, have a little faith."

Vail and Lucy had been sitting in the floor of the room Vail was going to stay in. It's apparently a really hard room to find.

**Vail P.O.V.**

I've been listening in on what Natsu, Gray, and Erza were saying. With Gray and Erza, though, I'm not at all surprised that they would say something negative about me. I mean, I knew they would end up saying something sooner or later. I couldn't help but be surprised at Natsu's words, though. Have a little "faith,"? What's faith? Is it food, maybe? NO! Not now Calista, this is not the time to be thinking about food. Definitely not the time.

I could feel Lucy eyeing me with some concern, "What's up?"

She caught me off guard, and I stuttered a bit, "Hm? Oh-hh. I-It's N-Nothing."

I could tell she was a bit worried for me. Huh, that's a sentence I thought I'd never use. It's still not even been a day, yet, I can feel the concern towards me when it comes to Lucy. She seems like a really sweet girl that cares for her... companions.

"You sure nothing's wrong?" She consented with concern in her eyes.

"I assure you, I'm fine. You just startled me." I responded.

She smiled at me, and stood up. She reached down her hand towards me to help me up, and I obliged.

As we both stood there staring at each other, we heard a crash in the main room. Lucy and I ran in there to see that Natsu and Gray were fighting, wrecking Lucy's place by doing so.

"What is going on?" Lucy screamed at them.

When Lucy screamed, Natsu and Gray stopped fighting, and sat in the floor. Natsu pointed at Gray, "He started it!" He whined.

"Don't blame this on me flame for brains!" Gray aggressively exclaimed.

Natsu got right up in Gray's face, "What'd you say!?"
