Immediately, Helena panics. She assumes that Vanessa has found George's hiding place and ends up running down the hall.

Catherine follows right behind her.

"Vanessa! What on Earth is the matter?!"

"Rat!"

Catherine glances down to where her sister points and ends up screaming as well.

A big, fat, black rat is nestled in the corner of the hall, looking at the three women with beady black eyes.

Relief washes over Helena. She's just as disgusted by the rat as the older women are, but she's even more relieved over the fact that they hadn't found George after all.

The three women know that they must do something about the rat.

But before they can do anything...Vanessa faints.

I have a question (regarding the story I'm writing)

When you guys read a book, how long do you prefer the chapters to be, page wise?

I only have 5 or 6 chapters written out right now, but the shortest (which I suppose is technically a prologue idk) is like 1 1/2 pages and the longest is 7 or 8. I have a general idea for the size of a page so I think I've got the size on Word set correctly, but I'll have to double check that

I've barely started and I'm already criticizing myself lmaoo
