Hours pass. Helena, confused and frightened, insists on stopping. George says that they have to at least make it to the next town over.

They pass through one town, but it's somehow smaller than the one they come from. It doesn't have a place to spend the night so they're forced to continue walking.

They stop at a third town as evening replaces the afternoon. This place has a small overnight called "Night Inn" where George and Helena finally stop for the evening.

George gets the two of them a room. On the way up, he stops by the kitchen and snags two pieces of bread and some water.

"What'd you do that for?" Helena asks as he hands her the bread.

He shrugs. "Don't have any money. It's the way of the world, doll. Better get used to it."
