MAY 7TH
When my eyes opened and I looked at the other side of the bed, Niall wasn't there. Where could he be? I sat up in bed, yawning and rubbing the sleep from my eyes. I stretched my arms out and groaned. I smiled, remembering that today is my birthday. Niall walked through the door quietly.
"Rise and shine, beautiful," he said, his thick Irish accent filling the room like silk. He had a tray of food in his hands.
"Oh, yummy. What did you make me, sweetie?"
"Pancakes and bacon." I sat up farther in bed and against the pillow behind me. He set the tray on my lap and I began eating. The smile was wiped off my face by the thought of school. The only good part about that was seeing Hayleigh. She is gonna come over after school.
I finished the pancakes and started on the bacon. Niall sighed and closed his eyes. Time passed and soon it was almost time for school. I got dressed quickly and put on a little makeup. I ran down the stairs quickly, almost tripping.
"Ready for me to take you to school?" Niall asked. I nodded and we headed out to his car. I sat in the passenger seat and Niall got in the drivers side. I told my parents that I'm having a sleepover at Hayleigh's tonight, when I'm actually going to be at Niall's hotel.
"So, I told my parents that I was sleeping over at Hayleigh's." Niall was expressionless.
"A-aren't you staying at the hotel though?" he asked. I sighed.
"Yeah, I umm, kind of lied." He gave me a dark look and turned the keys in the ignition.
"You know I don't like lying to your parents," he said, his voice cold. He pulled out of the driveway and into the road.
"But it'll be fine, we get tonight together," I nervously chuckled under my breath, hoping he wasn't angry with me. Niall's scary when he's mad, too.
"Yeah, I guess." His fists weren't so tight around the steering wheel anymore. The drive to the school seemed never-ending. It was dead silent. When we got there, I grabbed my bag and got out of the car. "Hon?" He waved me over to his side of the car.
I opened the car door and Niall leaned over to whisper in my ear. "I love you."
"I love you, too." I kissed him on the lips. I tried to make it brief but his hands grasped the sides of my face. "Sweetie, umm, I gotta go, seriously," I muttered.
"Mhmm," he muttered back. I rolled my eyes and waited a few seconds, kissing back.
"Now I REALLY have to go!" I told him.
"Ok, ok, see you later." I walked off and away from his car. It felt like I was being punched in the heart every time I left Niall. I realized Casey was beside me. I didn't wanna talk to anyone, but I had a feeling that I was going to have to.
"So, I see you and Niall are comfortable making out in the school lot," he commented. I rolled my eyes at him, unlocking my phone while walking.
"Yeah, uh huh," I answered. He looked at his shoes, we walked in silence to homeroom. I sat in my desk beside Hayleigh. I got to talk to her a little about Niall. I had already told her about the fake sleepover thing. Soon enough, the teacher began teaching. I almost fell asleep.
At the end of class, Triston tapped me on the back. "Happy birthday!" he said. I closed my eyes and waited in nervousness, hoping no one overheard.
"Thanks."
"It's your birthday?" Casey asked. I nodded slowly and turned around to face him. He had his arms out, offering me a hug. This was awkward. When I had a crush on him, he never offered me a hug. Probably because he knew I liked him, and it freaked him out. What a jerk.
