I walked into my classroom and glanced around. I was one of the last people there, and I walked over to my seat next to Hayleigh. She smiled lightly at me and turned away strangly. She's acting really weird. Everyone got a little quiet when I walked in the room.
I looked awkwardly around the room. What is going on with everyone? I sat down and looked at Hayleigh in the eyes. She questioned me with her glance and talked to her other friends. The girls behind me began whispering and giggling.
I turned swiftly to them and they stopped. I rolled my eyes and turned back around. I felt someone poke me in the back. I turned the other way and found myself facing Casey. "Oh, hi," I said quietly. He gave me a small smile and ran his hand through his hair.
"I-is what Hayleigh is telling everyone true?" he asked me slowly. I narrowed my eyebrows and thought about the words I had heard.
"Wait, what is she telling people?" I harshly spat. His smile immediately disappeared.
"Oh, nevermind," he turned around and started doing something on his paper. I was shocked. Hayleigh was telling people something about me? Is that why Chloe was gossiping about me and called me a whore this morning?
"Ok class, now read pages three ninty eight through four hundred and eight of the textbook, and answer questions one through twenty, and hand it in at the end of class! Get started, no talking." I put my earbuds in and turned up my playlist.
I began to read what the teacher had assigned but I got a little distracted. I was thinking about what Casey had said. 'Is what Hayleigh is telling everyone true?' kept replaying in my head. The class period dragged on, with people looking back at me, and at me.
I didn't really pay attention. I turned my music up whenever someone tried to talk to me, or pass me a note. I kept reading, and attempted the questions on the following page. I laid on the desk once I was finished, and when the bell rung, I hopped up and ran into the hallway.
I didn't want anybody asking questions.
I walked down the hallway with a fast pace, when people started giving me looks, and pointing at me. Someone threw a ball of paper at me that said 'slut'. By then, I knew what Hayleigh had told people. I needed to confront her after school.
I walked to my locker, where my senior friend always met me before second period. I saw him standing there, looking at his phone. I walked faster and up to him. I tried to smile as he looked down at me and he frowned, flipping his dark hair out of his face.
"What's wrong?" Junior pulled me into a tight hug and I slouched into his chest. I handed him the note and he read it quietly. "I'm sorry, I heard though, too. You're not a slut." I shook my head as I felt the heat gathering behind my eyes. "No, don't cry."
I wiped a tear as it fell down my cheek. "Wow, another guy? What a whore!" I heard someone mutter behind me. I felt my throat get really scratchy and a sob shaked my chest.
"Shut the fuck up!" Junior shouted at them, throwing the ball of paper. I wiped my tears with my sweatshirt and stopped crying. I leaned farther away from him and took a deep breath.
"Is my makeup ok?"
"Yes, you look fine! Now get to class, freshie." I gave him a light, one armed hug and tried to smile. He made the same effort and I began to trudge off to class. I really needed Niall right now. I missed him so much, I would've done anything to have him there.
I walked in my classroom and the class looked over at me. I sat in the back of the classroom as everyone stared at me. I didn't really pay attention to the class, I also ignored the looks I was being given. Why did everyone hate me so much?
